140509 Friday International Dinner Party in Daejoen

Place: Grace & Barnabas’s home at Hanpit Apartment

Transportation: Seoul – (KTX) – Daejeon –(Subway)- Wolpyongdong –(Bus)- ChungNam Univ. – (Walk)- Hanpit Apartment

Participants: About 30 people from 15 different countries

After seeing Ms. H and Ms. Y, I took KTX to Daejeon. I indulge myself by taking the 1st class car so that I could enjoy comfortable seat.

I took subway from Daejeon Station to Wolpeondong, then changed to bus to ChungNam University. In Seoul or in Daejeon, you need to pay the first ride of subway or bus, then you do not need to pay any additional fare for the following transportation at all. It’s a great system. In Japan we need to pay each ride for subway and bus.

It was less than 30 minute walk from ChungNam Univ to Oeundong where Hanpit Apart is.

I left my luggage at my friends’ apartment, then went to the sauna in Shinseongdong where I used to get “washing body” service.

Mr. B who does this service, welcomed me, and I gave him a small present as usual.

After having “washing body” service at the sauna, I returned to Hanpit Apartment, and together with my friend, we went to Grace & Barnabas’ home at Hanpit Apartment.

More than 30 people from about 15 countries came for the party. Elera, a good hiker from Russia celebrates her birthday. Someone prepared a birthday cake for her.

We sang “Happy Birthday To You” song with different languages, most of cases along the same tune, but some countries, different tune as well. It was fun.

I always enjoy the international admosphere and enjoy the talk at the party.

The party was over at 9 pm, and I went back to my friend’s apartment which is only 5 minutes on foot.

I promised Grace and Barnabas that I should revist them again this year.

ソウルからKTXでテジョンに向かった。所要時間はほぼ1時間。テジョン駅で下車すると駅前広場に他テントが張ってあり、セウォル号沈没事故で政府の責任を問う横断幕と、行方不明者の無事帰還を願う多くの黄色いリボンが結ばれていた。

セウォル号沈没事故は実に痛ましい事故だ。また国民が一丸となって行方不明者の帰還を願う気持ちはよくわかる。また、何もできない無力感もわかる。

私は黄色いリボンが飾られた広場を後にして、地下鉄に乗り換え、月坪洞で下車し、バスに乗り換えて忠南大で下車し、魚隠洞まで歩いた。

テジョンでは地下鉄とバスに乗り換えると1回分の料金だけ有料で後の2回は無料である。これは利用者にやさしい制度でいつも素晴らしいと思う。

魚隠洞では10年間かかりつけだった宋内科へ行き、帰国前の最後の血液検査の結果を教えてもらった。このときの値は10日間の禁食修練会の後の数値で当然ながら絶好であった。

その後、二晩泊めていただく友人の家へ荷物を置き、かつて住んだ新城洞へ行き、サウナであかすりをしてもらった。あかすりをしてくれるBさんは長年の友人である。

6時半には新城洞から魚隠洞へ戻り、友人のウクライナ人、Mさんとグレイスおよびバルナバスの主催するIDPに参加した。

IDPは今回も盛況で約30人も集まった。タンポポ夫妻も参加し、タンポポは食堂の手伝いをしたのでグレイスは大いに助かったことだろう。

ドイツ人のマリオは強力なウィスキーを持参したがこれはちょっと場違いという雰囲気だった。

今回もみな自己紹介をしたが、今回で3回目になる中国人の美人は彼氏ができたという。会って1ヶ月で結婚することを決めたほどの恋愛だったようだ。

考えてみれば自分もそんなペースだったし、実際に4ヵ月後には結婚したのだが、自分の話は控えた。

ロシア人のエレナの誕生日が5月8日ということで誰かが彼女のために誕生日ケーキを用意した。

そして各国の歌で「誕生日おめでとう」を歌った。韓国語バージョンも私は気に入っている。

メロディーも違う国があり興味深かった。パーティは9時ごろ終了し、Mといっしょに彼女のアパートに帰った。

アパートへもどるとすぐにMさんの韓国人のご主人、BJが帰ってきて、シャンパンをごちそうしてくれた。

I got up at 5:30 am. Dr. Chung and I went to Myongseong Church to attend the early morning prayer meeting.

There were about 7000 people came to the church before 6 am. When I stayed at his home 11 years ago, I also attended the prayer meeting.

They built a new building. It looked larger then before. The preacher was a young pastor, maybe in his early 30s.

I liked his preach. He looked very humble and that is the important credentials as a Christian.

After attending the early morning prayer meeting, Dr. Chung took me a nearby park just next to his apartment.

It was well facilitated just like the one in Shinseongdong, Daejeon, with exercise apparatus for sit-up, chin-up, push-up, etc.

After the nice walk in the park, he offered me healthy breakfast at his home. His wife might have prepared it for me.

They were rice balls packed in the lunch-box and beans and sesame juice.

Then he sent me off at the subway station. I went back exactly the same way back to Didital Media City Station, and went to see a heath specialist whom I saw at Dure Church during the 10 day fasting in March.

Mrs. Han was the health management specialist at CJEM. She examined my blood pressure; it was 110 – 75, perfectly normal.

Then I went to Seoul Station where I saw two of my good old friends since 1990s.

Ms. Hong has been helping me with my Hangul expression in my blog. Ms. Young has been supplying me hiking gears from top to my toe.

We had lunch at a small restaurant at Seoul Station and enjoyed conversation until my KTX time.

We promised to see again when I visit Seoul next time in July. We talked about inviting Ms. Kim, another friend living in Uijeongbu near Seoul.

I took KTX leaving Seoul at 1:30 pm and headed for Daejeon, my main destination.

同行者：なし ソウルの鄭博士の家で一泊した翌日、11年前同様、彼の属するミョンソン教会の朝6時からの早天祈祷会に出席した。

鄭博士の家から教会までは徒歩でたぶん15分以内であろうが、前夜の就眠時間が遅かったため、起床をぎりぎりまで延ばし、車で教会へ行った。

ミョンソン教会の会堂は１１年前も非常に大きかったが、今回、さらに大きい新教会堂ができていたことに驚いた。駐車場には数人のボランティアが交通整理を行っていたのは前回と同じだ。

新会堂は実に大きいのと、ITを駆使してどこからでもスクリーンで講壇のイメージがモニターに写されるのに感心した。

この日の早天祈祷会のメッセージを担当した牧師は、新学校を出たてのように若い牧師であったことに新鮮な驚きを感じた。出席者はおそらく7,000人くらいいたように見えた。

礼拝後、鄭博士は私を自宅のすぐ隣にできた起伏のある公園に案内してくれた。

この公園はスンヘの家の近くの南山タワーの下の公園や、私が11年間住んだテジョンの新城洞の裏山公園に似ていて、腹筋、鉄棒、エアーウォーク、ツイストなどの器具が完備していた。

礼拝と散歩の後、鄭博士の家に戻り、ヘルシーな朝食をごちそうになった。すなわち、鄭博士の奥様が前夜つくっておいた弁当づめのおかずとおにぎりと大豆とゴマのジュースだった。

朝食後、鄭博士は私を高徳駅まで車でおくってくれた。私は前日のコースを逆回りして孔徳駅で空港鉄道に乗り換え、デジタルメディアシティで下車し、タクシーでCJ EMビルへ向かった。

その目的は、３月の禁食修道会で会った看護師に会うことだった。しかし、彼女は健康管理室を任されている健康スペシャリストだが、特別な検査ができるわけではなかった。

私が期待した、健康管理に関する試験は血圧を測っただけで、私のこの日の血圧は110-75と極めて良好だった。

さて、CJEMの看護師との面会の次の予定は、ソウル在住で20年の長きにわたる女性の友人二人、洪さんと梁さんに会うことである。

デジタルメディア駅からソウル駅はすぐ近くで、以前と同様にソウル駅のロッテリアの前で洪さんを待った。洪さんは定刻に現れたが梁さんが10分以上遅れた。彼女を待つ間に、KTXの1時半発の特室キップを買った。

梁さんが現れてから、3人でソウル駅の3階の食堂街をまわったが適切な食堂がわからず、なんだか高くてがらがらのパン屋に入ってパンを買って食べた。

3人分で2万9000ウォンだから、それほどばかげて高いわけではない。しかし、次回はナウォンも含めて歴史博物館で会って、一緒に見学しようと言う話になった。それならおいしいサムゲタンも食べられるだろう。

さて、ソウルでの予定をすべて終えて、午後は主要目的地であるテジョンへ向かった。

140508 Visiting My Good Friend in Seoul

Place: Dr. Chung Apartment, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, Korea

It was my first re-visit of Korea since April 1st this year. I bought the air tickets in Daejeon in March. It was Haneda – Gimpo line. Much easier than Narita – Incheon.

The plane left at 16:20, so I attended Day KEC meeting until noon, and took 12:20 bus to Handeda.

My seat was on isle, but I could see Mt. Fuji clearly from the window near the restroom at the rear part of the plane.

I arrived at Gimpo Airport after 18:30 and took AREX which connects Incheon, Gimpo and Seoul Station high speed.

I changed to Subway No. 5 at Gongdeok Station and got off at Godeok Station where my friend, Dr. Chung lives.

He bought 3 kg of brown rice powder for me. Brown rice porridge was the ideal diet recommended by the church which organized the 10 day fasting prayer meeting in March. He said it cost only 30,000 won.

Last time when I visited my friend’s apartment, it was the end of April 2003. So it was 11 years ago.

It was still the early days of the development (Subway No. 5 was completed in 1995.) The area was greatly developed and the value of the land must have been increased greatly.

Dr. Chung and I had “Kalguksu” (literally "knife noodles") at a small shop near the station.　The noodle tasted very good.

He took me to his apartment after having the noodle. It was the same as 11 years ago, and I could use the same room in 2003.

His children have grown up and both of them are now twenties. His wife has been an English teacher of a high school.

She seems very busy. She was using the washing machine at midnight.

Dr. Chung is a deacon of Myongseong Church with the membership of 80,000 or more.

It was already late at night. But we had many things to talk about. I slept after 11 pm, it was quite unusual for me.

タイトル：ソウルの友人宅訪問

今年4月1日に帰国してから第1回目の訪韓である。エア･ティケットは羽田～金浦で、出発時刻は午後4時過ぎなのでDay KECに出席してから12:20発の羽田空港行きのバスに乗車した。

座席は窓際ではなかったが、後部座席だった。ちょうど水平飛行に移ったため、トイレの後ろの窓から、中腹まで雪に覆われた富士山がよく見えた。

金浦空港には6時過ぎに着陸。空港鉄道に乗車し、孔徳駅で地下鉄5号線に乗り換えて、鄭信亮の家のある江東駅には8時ごろ到着した。

鄭信亮氏が駅に出迎え、駅の近くの地下街で手打ちそばをいっしょに食べた。手打ちそばは軽くてちょうどよい。

鄭信亮氏は私が依頼した玄米粥用の玄米の粉末も3kg(3万ウォン)購入してくれていた。玄米粥は3月に参加した10日間の禁食修練会のおすすめダイエットである。 彼の家に泊まるのは、2003年にETRIに就職が決まって、4月30日に泊まって以来であり、11年ぶりだ。 11年前は新興住宅地であったこの付近は高級住宅地に変わっていた。駅周辺のオフィステルはもちろん、住民のための公園ができたことも地価のアップに大いに影響していると思われる。

鄭博士と私は駅の近くの「カルグクス(칼국수手打ちそば)」屋に入って軽い夕食をたべた。私はこのカルグクスがけっこう好きである。

11年前に小学生だった子供たちも成人し、娘はオフィスレディとなっていた。今回、泊めてもらった部屋は、11年前のと同じ階上の部屋で、通常は彼の書斎であるようだ。

奥さんも11前同様、高校の英語の先生で、家事とキャリアを両立させている。この日は11時過ぎに寝たが、その後、深夜に洗濯機をかけていたのが印象的だった。

鄭博士はミョンソン教会のチプサ(짐사執事)である。日本のキリスト教会では使わない用語だが、強いて言えば教会役員であろうか。

彼の家は３代続くクリスチャンファミリーで、昔聞いた話だが、もし、私の記憶が正しければ、「チプサ」に選任されたときは親戚が集まってお祝いをしたそうである。

積もる話が多かったので、この夜は11時過ぎに就眠したが、これは私にとってめずらしい「遅寝」である。
