Destination (mountain): Kengamine of Mt. Fuji (3,776m)
Hiking course: Gansomuro (the 8th Station – Kusuzhi Shrine (3,715m) – Kengamine (3,776m) –
Bifurcation Point of the 8th station – Unjokaku of the 5th station
Partner: Mr. Matsumoto and Mr. Mutabe [up to the bifurcation point]
We got up at 1:30 a.m. at Gansomuro Lodge. Began walking up to the top of Mt. Fuji at 1:45. Many hikers were already up and got ready to walk, too.

I thought the number of hikers were smaller than last year, esp. foreigners. It might be the aftermarth of 311 desaster, or high value of yen, esp. for those from Korea.
Anyhow, I happened to talk with a Canadian hiker. He teaches English in Seoul, and he is planning to teach in Japan!

Up to the 8th sage, there were two trails paralleled. One for quick hikers, the other for slow hikers. I took the faster trail, just like last year. Mr. Mutabe followed me well, but Mr. Matsumoto seemed a bit tired, maybe because of lack of sleep, and his heavy bag. (He was carrying even a sleeping bag!)
We arrived at Kusushi Shrine before 4 a.m. After taking the pictures, we walked pass the crowed area and waited for the sunrise at the rocky place. Between Asahidake and Izugatake.
There were several people waiting for the sunrise. Just next to me was a young couple of foreigners. They were sleeping in a sleeping bag. After a while, they woke up and spoke in German.
It was a bit cold while waiting for the sunrise as usual. We could see Lake Yamanaka, and Lake Kawaguchi, well that moring.

[In front of the crater, 噴火口の前で、분화구 앞에서]When the sun came up and we got sunshine, then the temperature woud be higher and comfortable. We began walking around the crater.
When we came close to the peak called “Kengamine” we could see the shadow of Mt. Fuji clearly. We took time to visit the abundand metrological station and took the picture with the mark stone.

When we came down after visiting the observation deck behind the metrological station, we happened to see two of five Tochigi group hikers.
[At the highest peak of Kengamine, 日本最高峰、剣ヶ峰にて,일본 최고봉, 겐가미네(3776m)에서]Then we came back to Kusushi Shrine. We took a short break in front of Yamaguchiya Lodge, then we began decending from Subashiri Exit.
[Snow remained in the crater, 火口に残る雪、 분화구에 남아있는 눈]I said good-bye to Mr. Matsumoto and Mr. Mutabe at the Bifurcation Point of the 8th station. They went down to Gotemba Exit and took a public bus to JR Gotemba station. While I took the tour bus and went back to Shinjuku.
On the way back to Shinjuku, we stopped at Fujiyama Onsen (Spa). There, I happened to see the Tochigi hikers’ group. I talked with Mr. Hori in the open-air spa there.
When the bus came back to Tokyo area, I saw a beautiful rainbow over the sky. It was just like a celebration to me for the success of climbing Mt Fuji this year.

登山地：富士山(3,776m)
登山コース：八合目「元祖室(がんそむろ)」～富士山頂・久須志神社（くすしじんじゃ3,715m）～御来光後朝食～富士宮口頂上～剣ヶ峰(3,776m)～須走下山口～八合目分岐点(江戸屋)～六合目合流点～河口湖口五合目
同行者：松本さん、および松本さんの甥(牟田部寿之さん)[元祖室～八合目分岐点まで]
元祖室の狭くて満員の部屋で1時半に起床。1時45分には準備完了。満点の星空のもと、登山を開始した。
[Mr. Matsumoto and Mr. Mutabe, before the start at Gansomuro Lodge, 元祖室出発前、"간소무로"산장 출발전] 昨年に比べるとかなり登山客は減っているようで昨年までのようなひどい渋滞はなかった。途中、カナダ人と話をした。なんと現在、ソウルで英語を教えているそうで、韓国での契約が終われば、日本へ来る予定だと言う。1ヶ月ほど休暇をとってヒマラヤに登ると言うから本格的だ。
九合目から先の岩場では、昨年同様、追い越し車線が認められていて、今年も昨年同様、岩場をスピード感を持って登った。牟田部さんがハアハア言いながらもよくついて来たが、松本さんは睡眠不足と荷物が多すぎることもあり完全にグロッキー。それでも山頂・久須志神社には4時前に到着。

今回はいつも日の出を見る頂上の山小屋銀座は通過してその先の丘の上(朝日岳と伊豆が岳の間)から日の出を見ることにした。

[At the moment of the sunrise, 日の出の瞬間、일출의 순간]岩かげで風を避けて日の出を待ったが、となりでドイツ人らしい若いカップルがなかよく寝袋にはいっていたのが目についた。
雲が多かったため、すっきりとした日の出とはならなかったが、それでも雲や空の色が変わり、三日月形をした山中湖や丹沢山塊もよくみえ、素晴らしかった。

昨年同様、剣ヶ峰に着くころは太陽もすっかり現れ、影富士が良く見えた。また、時間が早かったため、「日本最高峰」の石標の撮影のための列に並んで１枚記念写真を撮ってもらった。

また、展望台にも上り、再度影富士を撮影した。元測候所を過ぎたところで元祖室で知り合った栃木のハイカー「堀組」の二人にばったり会った。他の3人は頂上小屋で休憩しているという。
[We happened to see the two of the Tochigi hikers, 栃木のハイカーさんたちと偶然に会った。도치기현에서 온 등산객들과 우연히 만났다 .]我々も頂上小屋のひとつ、「山口屋」で休憩した。松本さんは800円の「味噌汁」を買って、私も一口飲ませてもらった。なかなかうまかった。
あとは吉田ルートと須走ルートの分岐点までいっしょに下り、松本さんと牟田部さんはそのまま須走口バス停へ下り、御殿場経由で大阪方面へ向かった。
私は元の五合目・雲上閣へと向かった。時間がたつにつれ雲が下から斜面を上がってきて八合目あたりからは完全に雲の中を歩いた。
とても涼しくて快適だが、下りの連続なのでつま先が痛くなるのはしかたがない。下山途中、きれいなホタルブクロの花を見つけた。
[Campanula punctata (Spotted Bellflower),ホタルブクロの花、초롱꽃]雲上小屋には10時ごろ到着。昼飯にラーメンを食べ、3Fの休憩室で休んだ。バスは12:20に集合というアナウンスがあったが、数名手違いで遅れ、当初の予定通り12:50に出発。
途中の風呂はいつもと異なり「ふじやま温泉」で日本一大きい木造の風呂場というのは迫力があった。露天風呂に入っているとなんと堀さんと佐藤さんが入ってきた。奇遇、奇遇。ここでもひとしきり登山の話をしたが、彼らは自家用車で来たらしく、ビールを飲むこともなく分かれた。私もここでは牛乳を飲んだだけ。
帰路も順調で東京に入ってから空に見事な虹がかかっているのがみえた。すばらしい虹で10分以上も楽しめた。
