Meeting time was 9:30 am, so I left my studio apartment at 8:50 on foot.
Mr. Miki was the 1st one at the meeting place and I was the 2nd. Soon, Michael and Jong-Moo joined us.
Then, Dr. Ju, George Furst, O-hyong, Alex, Wonjong and his two sons came. We left KAIST at 9:40 am.
The destination is a bit far. It is a vicinity of Daejoen, Okchen/Yongdong. It took about one hour and we all arrived at the parking lot of CheonGukSa Temple at 10:40 am.

CheonGukSa Temple seemed a bit different from the traditional Korean temple. It looked rather like ones in Thailand.
We parked our cars and walked along the river on paved road. Then there was a reservoir and soon we arrived at a sightseeing spot of waterfall called “Okgye Waterfall.”

The waterfall is about 20 + α meter high, and they say it looks like a body of a woman. Well I thought we needed much imagination for it.

The trail started behind a gazebo in front of the waterfall. After acrossing the stream, we came to a bifurcation point. We turned to right and began climbing the mountain.

We had to go up and up for about one hour, then came to a gazebo with three big cairns. It was already past noon, so we decided to have lunch there.

We could see a part of Daejeon from the gazebo. We all enjoyed rathere lenghy lunch time there.

We began walking a little before 1 pm. The trail from the gazebo was on the ridge, therefore, it was easier but still hot and humid.
We soon arrived at 448 Peak. From this peak I noticed several pretty flowers looked like “Nadehiko” in Japanese or "Dianthus" or "Sweet William."

I saw many of this kind of flowers on the top of Wol-I-San. We arrived at the top of this mountain at 1:43.

It was hot and humid and some of them took off their shirts. (There was no lady among us.)
When I saw the northern part of mountains from a observation rock on the ridge, I could see a dark cloud coming toward us.

The cloud was a rain cloud and we got shower when the cloud did come to us.
I prepared raincoat and umbrella but most of other hikers did not. So some of them took shelter from the rain.
Fortunately it stopped soon. So, we began descending the mountain from West Peak to the village.
We saw grape vineyard near the village. Someone told me that there was a winery in this neighborhood.

We walked along the river, and soon we came to a set of facilities used for a certain religious group.

The main facility was called “Ilji Meditation Center” and I saw several statutes including the one of the founder.

The whold hiking distance might be 7 or 8 km and it took us 6 hours. I felt satisfied with this hike as the substitution of AhToSan hike.
It was my 43rd hike for this year.

参加者：韓国人3人子供2人、日本人2人、あとは米国、ブルガリア、中国、フランスから各1人
徒歩でKAIST正門横へ9時半集合に間に合うようにワンルームを出た(約2km)。
日本人の三木さんがすでに待っていて、フランス人マイケルがすぐに合流。計画者かつリーダーのジョンムも時間通り。
少し遅れて朱建州、ジョージ・ファースト、呉衡根、アレックス、ウォンジョンと二人の息子らが到着した。

参加者は男ばかり大人9人と子供2人とジョージ・ファーストの11歳になる愛犬Bibi。
目的地は沃川の月伊山(551m)。3台の車に分乗して沃川の千国寺駐車場には10時半に着いた。この寺の仏像は韓国の伝統的な寺の者とは異なり、なんとなくタイ風のような気がした。

駐車場に車を停めてからぶらぶらと狭い舗装道路を渓流に沿って10分ほど進むと小規模な貯水池(20cmほどの魚が多くみえた)があり、さらに10分ほど進むと玉渓瀑布(옥계폭포)という高さ20余mのみごたえのある滝に出た。

説明文によると「玉」は女性を表し、その形が女性が寝そべっているようだと言うが想像力が必要だ。滝の水量は近頃の豪雨のためかなり多いようだ。

滝の前で2回、集合写真を撮ってからいよいよ登山開始した。
滝の上に登ると渓流沿いのコースと山に向かうコースの分岐点があり、事実上ここを起点とするループ登山路だった。
分岐点から最初の峰である449峰までの1時間余りのコースは上りばかりでかなりきつい。

尾根に出るとすぐに449峰の頂上であり、そこには3つ並びのケルンがあり、八角亭子もあった。

ここで時刻は12時過ぎなのでちょうど昼食時だ。八角亭子には先客がいたが、彼らは食事が終わった後だったようで我々と入れ替わった。
八角亭子では全員が座って食事ができた。また、展望が良く、大田の北部が良く見えた。昼食休憩は約45分とり、1時前には出発した。

このころは湿度が高く非常に蒸し暑かった。汗を流しながら次の峰である448峰には13:12に到着した。 この辺から月伊山の頂上にかけて日当たりのよい場所には小型のナデシコのようなかわいらしい花がよく目についた。この花は山頂ちかくの古い土饅頭のまわりにも、月伊山の山頂にも多く見られた。

山頂にはアレックスと朱建州、三木さんが真っ先に到着。時刻は13:43だった。
全員がそろったのは13:55。月伊山の標石とともに認証写真をとり、大田北部を背景にしても集合写真を撮った。

この後、尾根の展望台から前方をみると雨雲が近づいているのがみえたが、はたせるかな、しばらくして夕立が降ってきた。

用意した雨具と傘を出したが、傘はすっかり濡れ、雨衣は半濡れ程度で雨は止んだ。
たぶん西峰(506m)あるいは445峰あたりで村へ下る下山路を選択し、ソゼマウルという村へ出た。この時点で14:54。
この村へ出る谷間にはブドウが多く栽培されていた。そういれば、近くにワイナリーがあるという。

さて、この村を過ぎると「イルジ(일지)瞑想センター」という宗教施設があった。創始者の像らきものもありどうも仏教をベースにした新興宗教の１つであるようだ。

宗教施設は川に沿ってあり、最後に川に沿った細い道を登って下ると、朝、写真を撮った分岐点に出た。

ここから往路の逆を歩いて滝の上に出て、そこを下ると滝の下流。そして千国寺の駐車場に戻ったのは4時半ごろだった。
全コースはおそらく7～８km程度と思われ、所要時間は6時間だった。帰路はジョンムに新城洞まで送ってもらった。今回は今年43回目の登山でかなり本格的なものだった。
