Alan used to live in Korea for more than 10 years. He left Korea last December, but his former working place, NFRI (National Fusion Research Institute) invited him again for a week, so he could join Stammtisch and Taejonhikers’ events.

We met at W-2 building of KAIST at 6:45 pm on Oct. 24. Then we headed for “Sugar Pie” in Banseok by two cars.

When we arrived at “Sugar Pie” Tracey and a new comer (Jarred Bahr from USA) were waiting for us.

Since Sugar Pie provide no dish for supper, some of us went to a nearby bakery to buy some bread. HeeSun, the owner of Sugar Pie, made special cakes for Alan. She wrote “Welcome Alan” with chocolates.

We had casual talks until 9 pm, and discussed the possibility of another dinner party. We decided to meet again at “Seronum Church” next day at 7pm.
I arrived at the meeting place too early next day. So I went to a coffe shop on the 10th floor of “Seronum Church.”

Then went down to meet other people at 7 pm. They all came on time, and we went to a restaurant specialized “Dolsokbap” in front of the church.
This time, Marta, the Ukranian member of Stammtisch came with her husband, Bongjoon. So we enjoyed “dolsot bibimbap” or rice hash cooked in a stone pot.

They provided more than 20 dishes to put in the rice in a pot. I have never seen so many ingredient for “dolsot bibimbap” before. It tasted very good, though.

We enjoyed not only food but also our conversation, esp. this time, silly quiz or riddles such as, “Where is the largest church in the world?” “Christ Church in Zew Zeland” “What is the most religious city in the world?” “Seoul” etc.
We finished our dinner at around 8:30 and I went home after the dinner. But rest of the members went to a coffee shop and enjoyed their 2nd meeting unil late at night.

イベント月日：2012年10月24日(水)＆25(木)
場所：A＝儒城区盤石洞「シュガーパイ」及び B＝万年洞「貴賓」
参加者：A＝アランとスタムティッシュ７名, B＝アラン他5名
アランがNFRI(韓国核融合研究院)の招聘で10/21から1週間韓国を訪問した。
今年2月にも同様な機会があったが、今回もスタムティッシュとテジョンハイカーズが歓迎した。
どちらも私が参加するようになってからアランが中心になって開催されていたので、彼がNFRIを退職して米国テネシーへ帰国してから、存続が危ぶまれたが、これまでなんとか継承してきた。
現在の会合場所はKAISTのW-2館の国際ロビーであり、毎週水曜日の8:30～9:30の1時間である。
アランを迎えた10/24は特別に6:45に集合して車で盤石洞の「シュガーパイ」へ向かった。

「シュガーパイ」の主人のヒソンは、スタムティッシュが2007年ごろから2011年まで5年間開催された魚隠洞の「パスタハウス」の主人であり、昨年12月にアランが米国へ帰国する時も送別会も「シュガーパイ」で開催した。
ヒソンはアランのためにチョコレートで「Welcome Alan」と書いた菓子を用意した。
会合ではアランの近況を聞きながら、近くのベイカリーで調達したサンドイッチなどを食べながら9時過ぎまで歓談した。

この夜の歓談では、ヒソンが店を開いていたため、十分に我々と時間を過ごすことができなかったので、翌日の25日にあらためて夕食会をすることにした。

翌日は万年洞のセロナム教会に7時に集まり、そのすぐ前の「貴賓」という石焼ビビンバのレストランで夕食を食べた。

ここの石焼ビビンパの食材はみごとなもので、その種類も20種類以上あると思われる。ちなみに単価は11000ウォンだった。
この会合にはスタムティッシュの常連メンバーのウクライナ人丸太のご主人も参加した。

この会食ではヒソンも客の一人として参加したため、十分会話を楽しめたようだ。
主な話題はたわいもない「なぞかけ問答」であったが、気の置けない友人たちとおいしい料理を食べながら過ごす時間はここちよい。
会食は8時半頃終わり、私はそのまま新城洞まで徒歩で帰ったが、のこりもメンバーはコーヒーショップで二次会を行ってさらに親交を深めたようだった。
