Sightgseeing Guide to Asakusa and Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari

Place: Asakusa & Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari

Course: Haneda – Asakusa – Shimbashi – Telecom Center – Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari – Shinagawa - Ofuna

A good friend of mine in Korea, Tracey decided to come to Japan. She wants to see “Snow Monkeys” so my wife and I accompanied her to “Jigokudani Onsen” in Nagano prefecture. Her itinerary is as below:

12/30 Arrival at Haneda Airport. George take her to Asakusa and Ooedo Onsen Monogatari. Stay our home in Ofuna.

1/31 Visit “Jigokudani Onsen地獄谷温泉” in Nagano prefecture, using Shinkansen and direct bus. Stay overnight at “Korakukan Inn.”

1/1 Return to Ofuna via Tokyo. Visit Enoshima Island in the evening. Leaving Ofuna at midnight. Heading for Tsuruoka, Yamagata prerecture by car.

1/2 Arrival at Tsuruoka. Climbing Mt. Haguro (partically), visiting Kikko’s friend in Tsuruoka. Staying at Denden Spa Hotel.

1/3 Visiting Kikko’s cousin in Sakata. It was a day of snow-storm. Leving Tsuruoka at midnight and headed toward Ofuna via Haneda.

1/4 On the way back to Ofuna, visited Kikko’s sister’s home in Haneda. Sightseeing at a special shrine in Haneda. Then came back to Ofuna. I guided her in Kamakura. Stayed overnight at Ofuna.

1/5 Leaving Ofuna to Haneda Airport by airport limousine,

So, after attending a church service in Ofuna, I hurried to see her at Haneda Airport.

It was raining in the afternoon. I took her to Ooedo Museum in Ryogoku first. But it was closed because of Year-end New-year season.

So we went to Asakusa. Asakusa is famous for its temple called “Sensoji” and shops lined up from the gate to the main hall.

There were “Rikisha” men waiting for sightseers. These young guys are nice-looking boys. So their target should be young girls and foreigners.

We enjoyed “window-shopping” and visited the main hall. There are a five-story pagoda, and related facilities and beautiful gardens. If it was fine, we could see Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky-tree from Sensoji.

After having sightseeing at Asakusa, we went to Shimbashi and change trains from subway to “Yurikamome.”

We took off at “Telecom Center” station and walked to “Ooedo-Onsen Monogatari.”

It is a big entertainment facility with several spas and restaurants.

First, we wore “Yukata” and had dinner at a restaurant within the facility.

In spite of the bad weather, there were many people there.

After having dinner, we went to “Ashiyu” section. It is an open-air foot-bathing facility. Some people having fish eating their old skin of feet. They call fish as “doctor fish” and it is called “Fish therapy.”

We spent more than 2 hours and took a double-decker free bus to Shinagawa.

We arrived at our house in Ofuna at around 9:30 pm.

韓国のスタムティッシュ及びテジョンハイカーの仲間のトレイシーが「スノーマンキー」を見るため来日。ついでに東京見物や私の妻の田舎である山形県鶴岡などへ同行することになった。

日程は1/30(日)の昼過ぎに羽田着。午後は東京観光。夜は我が家に泊まり、翌日の大晦日、新幹線で長野へ向かい、地獄谷・渋温泉で一泊。スノーマンキーを見学。

元日は地獄谷・渋温泉で迎え、また新幹線で東京へ戻り、午後、江の島韓国。深夜に妻の車で茨城県神立へ向かい、妻の弟の車に乗り換え、山形県鶴岡市へ向かう。

2日は鶴岡の名山「羽黒山」に登り、夜は妻の実家のそばの温泉宿泊施設に泊まる。

3日は鶴岡及び隣町の酒田を訪問。深夜に鶴岡を出発して4日朝、神立へ戻る。神立からは羽田経由で鎌倉に戻り、鎌倉観光。この日は私の鎌倉の家で宿泊。

翌5日土曜日の昼の羽田発の飛行機で韓国へ戻るというスケジュール。

初日の12/30は日曜日で、私は午前中、私の母教会である湘南のぞみ教会の礼拝に出席した。

礼拝は10:00から11:00で、私は礼拝が終わるとすぐに羽田空港へ向かった。

到着ロビーには12:36に到着。トレイシーにはすぐ会えた。

京急で両国へ向かい、地下鉄を乗り換えて蔵前で降りて大江戸博物館を訪ねたがあいにく休館日だった。 やむを得ず雨の中、浅草へ向かった。浅草寺は雷門へ向かう途中、イケメンの若者たちがリキシャを連ねて客待ちをしているのが印象的だった。

雷門の前で認証写真の撮影後、仲通商店街をぶらぶらと本堂へ向かった。

雨にもかかわらず大変な人出。ゆっくりと見学を終えてから次の目的地「大江戸温泉」へ向かうため「ゆりかもめ」の始発駅である新橋へ向かった。

新橋からユリカモメに乗る頃、雨が土砂降りとなり、新橋駅でトレイシー用に大型の傘を買った。

大江戸温泉には5時前に到着。割引開始の6時までは待たずに入館し、早めに出ることにした。

大江戸温泉は悪天候にもかかわらずたいへんなにぎわい。好みの浴衣を着て江戸広場を見学後、諸国旨いもん横丁村でカツカレーを食べた。

その後、足湯に入ったが、露天のため傘が必要。フィッシュセラピーで魚に足をつつかせている人を見物したりしてから入浴。

8時にはチェックアウトをしてダブルデッカーの品川行き無料バスで品川駅へ向かった。大船の自宅には9時半ごろ到着。

ちなみに大江戸温泉物語の入場料は平日1980円、土日祝日は2180円

午後6時以降のナイター料金は平日1480円、土日祝日は1680円

フッシュセラピーや砂風呂は別料金

大江戸温泉物語からJR品川駅まではダブルデッカーの無料バスが利用できる。
