We had big fun for singing songs along with karaoke. One of the good songs my wife sang was “Mushuku Ryojo” or “Wuxi Traveling Sentiment.” When I searched this song in the net, I found a youtube in Japanese and Chinese. How nice it was!

After the party, Tracey stayed at Denden Spa next to Hodashi, my wife’s mother’s house.
I went to Denden Spa to see Tracey next morning. We had breakfast together, then I took the spa while she was packing for check out.

My wife drove us to one of her relatives’ home in Sakata that day. It was really blizzard that day. We could not see very well through windshield because of the blizzard.
We stopped at a local shop near the famous storehouses in Sakata. They were giving free “sake” for the visitors. I tasted some. We also did some shopping as well.

When we arrived at the relatives’ home, they gave us a set of sushi.

My wife’s cousin likes picking up wild mushrooms. He showed the pictures of mushrooms he found.

When we finished our visit, he got rid of snow from the entrance of the house to the door of the car we drove.

After the dinner at Hodashi, we saw a movie “The Yellow Handkerchief.” It was the 1977 film broadcasted on TV as a New Year special.

The movie was a happy-end movie, but while watching it, I could not hold my tears back.

Then we took a short nap and then began driving back to Kamakura from Tsuruoka midnight.

ゲスト：トレイシー 前夜のカラオケでは終わりの方で妻が歌った「無錫旅情」が気に入った。Youtubeで検索すると尾形大作が日本語と中国語で歌っている。とても気に入ったので、是非中国語で歌えるようになりたいものだ。
さて、にぎやかなカラオケの後、ゲストは妻の実家、鶴岡市文下の赤川を隔てた隣町の三川町にある町営の「菜の花温泉田田」に泊まった。
ここは毎年、日帰り温泉に利用しているが、ゲストを泊めるのは初めてだ。私は翌朝、田田の宿泊施設を訪ね、トレイシーと一緒に朝食を食べた。

宿泊施設の外見は純和風だが、中は通常のビジネスホテルに良く似ていて洋室だった。和室もあるようだが、トレイシーには洋室の方が使いやすいだろう。

私は朝食後、トレイシーがチェックアウト準備中に、宿泊施設につながっている温泉に入った。
その後、迎えに来た妻の車でいったん、文下の実家に戻ったが、その後、義母もつれて、酒田の親戚の家を訪ねることにした。
この日はひどい吹雪で前が見えないほどだったが、酒田へ行く途中に寄った物産店では、正月の客に振る舞い酒などを出していて、ごちそうになった。

また、店内を見学しているうちにいろいろと買い物もした。
ちょうど昼時のため、妻の従兄弟は寿司を用意してくれていた。

自衛隊勤務の息子と、実家へ帰っていた娘があいさつに顔をみせた。

トレイシーは私の登山靴があわないようで、サンダルで出歩いた。妻の従兄弟が玄関から車までの道をトレイシーのために雪かきをしてくれた。

妻の従兄弟の家を出る頃は吹雪も収まって、帰路は安全だった。
妻の実家で夕食後、黄色いハンカチの話題になり、義兄が録画した「幸せの黄色いハンカチ」を鑑賞した。

高倉健の主演する映画のシリーズもので、ついつい感情移入して泣いてしまった。

その後、しばらく仮眠してから、深夜に妻の実家を出発し、鎌倉の自宅を目指した。
