It’s the 2nd day of the hike. After climbing the top of “Spearhead” of Yarigatake, I walked down the same trail as the one of the previous day.
The breakfast at the lodge starts at 5 am. I got up 4 am and took many pictures before dawn. But because of the clouds, I could not take clear pictures of sunrise.
[Mt. Yarigatake before the sunrise,

I made a line before 5 am and had breakfast with other early-risers. A man who sat in front of me, spoke to me, saying “You arrived late yesterday.”He was on the same bus leaving Shinjuku on Sunday and arrived at the lodge much earlier than me yesterday.
Since he wore white beard, he looked much older than me, but actually he was born in 1947, so exactly the same age as mine.
He introduced himself as Tanaka, and to my surpise, he graduated from the same high-school as mine, Yokosuka Municipal Technical Highschool (Part-time course). What a coincidence! Since I lost my parents when I was in the 1st grade and worked as "milk-man" for 3 years, we shared deep emotion saying, "We really studied hard, didn't we?"

After having breakfast, I climbed the top of Yarigatake again in the morning. This time, I succeeded to climb the top of the mountain at 6 am.

I saw the father and son whom I accompanied at the last part of the hike on the previous day. I took pictures of theirs and I asked them to take pictures of mine.
[A father and a son, looking down from the top of Mt.

Their family name was “Endo” and they came from Gifu prefecture. They slept in their tent near Sessho Hutte last night.
[With a father and a son from Gifu,
The 15 year-old boy said he had seen sky-ful stars last night. I regretted that I did not go out of the lodge last night.
[Looking up the top of Yarigatake at Yarigatake Branch,
I saw many alpine flora around the lodge and along the trails near the lodge. I checked the names of these alpine flora when I came home later.
["Kibana-shakunage" or "Rhododendron aureum"、
["Miyama-shiogama" or "Pedicularis apodochila",
[Rhodiola rosea (also Golden Root, Rose Root, Roseroot, Aaron's Rod, Arctic root, King's Crown, Lignum Rhodium, Orpin Rose)、
I began descending the mountain at 6:35. The snowy gorge was slippery as I went down. I regretted that I had not brought sticks with me this time.

["Obakizumire" or "Viola brevistipulata",
I had more time and relaxed comparing with the previous day. So, I notice many alpine flora which I had not been aware on the previous day.
["Shinano-Kinbai" or "Trollius japonicus"、

I saw cherry blossoms near Babadaira. I also notices many colorful tents there.

I arrived at Yarisawa Lodge at 9:50 and had a coffee break there. I talked with a couple from Zama, Kanagawa prefecture. I envied them because they had come as a couple.
I arrived at Yoko-o, which is the middle of the whole distance, at 11:20. I took a short break there and went on.
["Hakusan-Ominaeshi" or "Patrinia triloba var. triloba"、
["Kibana-Miyama-Odamaki" or "Aquilegia flabellata var. pumila f. flavida",
I arrived at Tokusawa at 12:30 and there I had lunch, same as I climbed Hotaka last year.
I arrived at Kamikochi Bus Terminal at 14:38. The “Sawayaka Shinshugo” which was to leave at 16:30, was full. So I took a local bus to Shinshimashima at 15:15.
[At Shinshimashima Station, Matsumoto Railway,
I had to change the bus to Matsumoto-dentetsu train there, and change trains to JR “Azusa” at Matsumoto.
The fair form Kamikochi to Matsumot was 2700 yen, and Matsumoto to Ofuna was about 7000 yen. The cost of transportations in Japan is very expensive!

I like hiking very much. I used to go hiking with a Korean hiking club named “AhToSan.” This blog introduces mostly my hiking activities in Korea and Japan, and Sydney in Australia. As of January 2020, I live in Sydney suburb. I go Blue Mountains and bush walk in Sydney area.
