Itinerary: Morioka – Shin Aomori – Hakodate – Ōnuma Park – Sapporo

I bought a special ticket of “Tohoku-Hokkaido Five Day Free” ticket 23,00 yen from JR Higashi-Nihon, starting on July 23, 2014.

The first day, I went to Hachimantai National Park and did trekking in the wetland, then stayed at a hotel in Morioka.

The 2nd day, I left Morioka and went to Shin Aomori by Tohoku Shinkansen, then changed trains to Tokkyu “Shiratori” and went to Ōnuma Park.

I took “Hayate 93” at 6:53 and changed train to “Super Hakucho” to Hokkaido. It was my 2nd time to go through Seikan Tunnel from Aomori to Hokkaido.

I had to change trains at Goryokaku from “Tokkyu” to a local train in order to visit “Ōnuma Quasi-National Park.”

I arrived at Ōnuma Park Station at 11 am. I chedked the available tain to Sapporo and found out that it was 2:37 pm. It was a temporary Tokkyu Hokuto 89, so I reserved a seat at the station.

Then I visited the Information Center to buy a ticket for sightseeing boat in the lake. It costed 1000 yen for 30 minute ride.

The sightseeing boat started at 11:20 and went around “Ōnuma” and “Konuma” until 11:50. I could see Mt. Komagatake from the boat, but it was covered with cloud.

After landing, I walked around Ōnuma & Konuma (bogs or ponds). There were "Japanese roses" or "Hamanasu(ハマナス)" near the port.

I saw beautiful lutas flowers as well as “Kohone(コウホネ)” or “ Nuphar japonica.” According to wikipedia "Nuphar japonica" is an aquatic plant species in the genus Nuphar found in Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

Both aquatic flowers were in full bloom then and very nice to see both of them. They were like paintings of impressionist painters.

I also noticed that there were many Chinese sightseers everywhere. They were visiting the park with big chartered buses. Then the clouds hanging around the summit of Mt. Komagatake began clearing up.

There were many shop-clerks speaking Chinese. It must be inevitable for seaking Chinese for selling goods there.

After walking around the ponds, I dropped in a restaurant with 4 staffed bears. The sign said “Friendly Bears” but they did not look friendly at all.

I ordered a dish of pasta and local beer for lunch.

After having lunch, I still had time until the special limited express “Hokuto 89” leaving the station at 14:37, so I went to the information center.

There were nice pictures about Hokkaido nature: birds, animals, plants, etc.

I could use free “wireless” internet access there, too.

The special limited express “Hokuto 89” left the station at 14:37. My reserved seat was on the window side, so I could enjoy seeing the scenes of Hokkaido both sides.

The train arrived at Sapporo at 18:14. I took the subway and the hotel was just in front of Exit #2 of Ōdori Station.

The name of the hotel was Hotel Resol Trinity. I has a big public bathtub on its 14th floor. I liked it very much.

The whole space of guest’s room was so big. It was almost the same as the hotel in Morioka, but the design was better, so that it was convenient to use.

Since it was Sapporo, I felt like eating “Sapporo Ramen” so I asked the front desk to recommend a good ramen shop near the hotel.

They recommended “Sora” so I went to the shop. It was small ramen shop one block away from the hotel. I did not sense the big difference from the ordinary “Sapporo Ramen” I ate elsewhere.

When I came back to the hotel room, it was about 8 pm. I was satisfied with my 2nd day of the trip.

JR東日本が期限限定で年３回発売する「東北・北海道全区間５日間新幹線・特急乗り放題」切符を2万3000円で購入、6/23から6/27までの５日間、東北と北海道を旅行することにした。

初日の6/23(月)は東北新幹線で盛岡まで行き、そこからばすで八幡平へ行き、八幡平をトレッキングした後、盛岡で一泊した。(旅行/日本/東北参照)

二日目は盛岡を出発し、青函連絡トンネルを通って北海道に入り、大沼公園を経由して札幌で泊という日程だ。

盛岡は緯度が高いせいか3時には明るくなった。ただし、起床は4時。次第に雲が広がって、5時にはすっかり曇ってしまった。

朝食が玄米粥にして、久しぶりにフェイスブックに写真をアップロードした。ホテルは6時15分にチェックアウトして盛岡駅に向かった。

盛岡6:54始発の「はやて93号」は1号車から7号車まで自由席で窓際の良い席に座った。

スーパー白鳥は定刻どおり運行していたが、途中、徐行運転区域があり、大沼公園へ行くための特急には五稜郭で乗り換えた。満席で空席はなかったが、時間は15分ほどだった。

大沼公園駅には11時に到着。午後2時37分発の札幌行き臨時特急北斗89号の座席指定をしておいてから観光センターへ。

大沼公園の観光船の割引券をもらってから11:20の観光船に乗った。大沼、小沼をまわって30分のコースで1000円はまあまあか。

下船してから大沼の周囲の散策路を歩いた。駅のロッカーは500円で、これを惜しんだわけではないが、八幡平とちがってリュックを背負ったまま散策した。船着き場近くにはハマナスの真っ赤な花が咲いていた。また、その付近には白いハマナスも咲いていた。

駒ケ岳は船上からみたときは頂上付近が雲に覆われていたが、散策路をあるいているうちに雲があがって頂上がみえたのはよかった。

大沼、小沼はコウホネの群落が発達していた。白い蓮の群落もあったがコウホネに負けていた。どちらも開花時期で花はきれいだった。

印象派の画家の絵をみているような気がした。観光客は中国人が圧倒的に多い。列車の乗客でも中国人が多かったが、団体バスで来る人々もいる。このころ、駒ヶ岳頂上付近にかかっていた雲が晴れて頂上が見えてきた。

食堂やお土産売り場の呼び込みも中国語が聞こえた。大沼公園の観光は午後1時半に終わってしまい、Friendly Bearsというあまりフレンドリーには見えない熊4頭が迎えるレストランでランチにした。

サッポロ地ビールも別に特別の味もしないが、ほろ酔いもしない量でちょうどいいか。

昼食後、インフォメーションセンターへ戻ってゆっくり電車を待った。このロビーで無線が無料で使えるのは良かった。

午後2時37分発臨時特急北斗89号は乗車率約85%。1号車が最後尾で、指定席は通路側だったが、後ろの席が空いているのに気づき、ゆったりと左右両方をみながら札幌までの列車の旅を楽しんだ。

札幌駅着は18:14。ホテルの案内はウェブで地下鉄大通り2番出口から徒歩1分とあったので地下鉄に乗った。

ホテルリソルトリニティ札幌は駅の出口のまん前だった。大通公園に面した良いロケーションで、風呂は14Fの大風呂というのも気持ちよい。

部屋の広さは盛岡と大差ないがデザインがよく、テーブル作業がしやすく広く感じる。

夕食はせっかくの札幌と言うことでフロントに聞いた「空(そら)」というラーメン屋を探したが、教え方が悪い。

渡された地図をたよりにマークされたブロックを2周廻ってあきらめかけたとき、とんでもない方向にあった。

アルバイトのような若者が二人でやっているラーメン屋で、値段も味もそう驚くほどのことはなかった。むしろ反対側のこぎれいなラーメン屋のほうが写真ではうまそうだった。

ホテルへ戻ると8時過ぎで、大風呂に入ってビール1本飲むと9時過ぎ。飲みすぎることもなく安眠した。

本日の出費：トマト200円、乾燥りんご200円、とうもろこし200円、遊覧船1000円、ランチ＋ビール1300円、夕食味噌ラーメン780円、ビール400円、コンビニにて金麦1本、串カツ2本、枝豆等約700円合計約5,000円
