Destination (mountain): YonHwaBong, SoBaekSan National Park
Hiking course: Juk-nyong – Yonhwabong (Observatory) – Hwibangsa – Parking Lot (10km, 5.5 hours) Partner: 12(B course) out of 33 AhToSan members.
I got up at 4 a.m. and prepared for the hike. This time, I made sandwiches in stead of “Bento” thus I could lighten my bag.
The destination was Mt. Sobaek, which was famous for the strong wind. I came to this mountain twice last year. Once during the winter, and we skipped lunch because of the coldness. (It was the only hike we skipped lunch in my 268 hike-experiences.)
Come to think of it, Poram, who joined AhToSan for the first time that day, joined us again after some 6 month-interval.

The 2nd time was in May. Yet it was so cold because of the strong wind, that I gave up walking full coure with Bernardo and Tobias that day.
So, I prepared well with one-use heaters which I bought in Japan.
AhToSan gave Best Member wards to Baeksan and Jottae on the bus that day. They looked very happy and proud with their Best Member Cards.

AhToSan organized 2 courses this time. Course A was the full course: Birosa Temple – Birobong – Yonhwabong – Hwibangsa Temple, (14 km, 7.5 hours)
Course B: Juknyong – Yonhwabong (Observatory) – Hwibangsa Temple – Parking Lot (10 km, 5.5 hours)
I was happy to join Course B which was much easier than Course B, because of my bad condition.
We arrived at the parking lot of Birosa at 9:15. After taking a group picture, A course hikers began walking, and the rest of us kept going by bus to Juknyong Parking Lot.

We arrived at Juknyong at 10:15 and began walking with climbing irons. The road from Juknyong to Yonhwabong was paved and well-geared vechles could commute to the observatory. But the road was completely frozen and climbing irons were necessary.
We arrived at the 2nd Yonhwabong at 12:10. It was a beautiful day without any cloud at all. We took several group pictures as well as a single picture there.

It was a nice comfortable trail from the 2nd Yonhwabong to the observatory on the 1st Yonhwabong. There were several models selestial body models such as Saturn and other planets.

I arrived at the observatory at 1 p.m. Since Alain Delon works at Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(KASI), he arranged that we could use the dining room of the observatory. It was very nice. The people of KASI even invited us to their facility, and we could see the inside of the observatory.

After having lunch and study-tour of the observatory, we went to Yonhwabong, then began decending the mountain.

On the way to the parking lot, we saw Hwibang Waterfall, completely frozen, and a beautiful temple named Hwibangsa, but I could not spare much time because I was rather late.

I arrived at the parking lot at 4:30 p.m. We moved to the foot of the mountain and had “wrap-up party” as usual.
It was still cold with strong wind even at the foot of the mountain, so we had rather short time party and hurried back to Daejeon.

The bus arrived at Expo South Gate stop at around 8 p.m. It was my 8th hike for this year and my 269th AhToSan regular hike.

登山地：小白山国立公園、蓮花峰(연화봉)天文台見学
登山コース：竹嶺(죽령)～蓮華峰(연화봉)・天文台～喜方寺(희방사)～駐車場(約10km、5.5時間)
同行者：アトサン会員33人
4時起床してハイク準備。今回は荷物の負担を軽減するため弁当をやめてサンドイッチにした。
目的地は強風で有名な小白山。そういえばこれまで経験した最も寒い山行ベストファイブに入る登山がポラムが初参加した小白山だった。あの日はあまりに寒くて昼食を山で食べるのをあきらめたほどだった。

そういえば今回、久しぶりにポラムが参加した。参加者は33人。往路の車内では「白山(ペクサン)」と「チョッテ(좆대)」のベストメンバー表彰があった。
南門を6時に出発し、Aコースの出発点である昆盧寺駐車場には9時15分に到着。全員で集合写真を撮ったが、トイレなどで写真に間に合わない人が約10人。寂しい集合写真となった。
バスはAコース参加者を下したのち、約1時間ほど進んで竹嶺地区で止まった。Bコースの出発は10:15だった。
竹嶺地区から蓮花峰までの道は舗装した車道でゆるやかな登り。ただし、かちんかちんに凍っている。新しい天文台らしい施設のある第2蓮花峰にはぼぼ12痔に到着した。
途中、今回は腰の負担を軽減するためにブドウだけ持参したスズキタイムを取ったが、同行者が10人いて、甘みのあるブドウも好評ですぐになくなった。

第2蓮花峰にはちょうど正午に到着した。真新しく立派な石標があり、白頭山-第二蓮花峰-智異山と続く白頭大幹(ペクトテガン)の山脈上に位置すると刻まれていた。

第2蓮花峰から蓮花峰天文台までの道はさらに緩やかな尾根道で、柔らかい雪道だった。非常に快適なハイクでこの部分は風もさほど苦にならない。また、登山路の途中、途中に、天体の模型をあしらった展望台があった。

蓮花峰の天文台にはちょうど1時ごろ到着。朝がパン2枚と軽かったため、腹が空いた。天文研究所に勤務しているアランドロンのはからいで昼食は天文台の付属施設の食堂でとることができた。おかげでカップラーメンの無料提供も受け、持参したサンドイッチを残すほど満腹した。

その後、天文台の見学をさせてもらい、説明をきいているうちにAコースの面々が到着した。天文台では1時間以上過ごし、2時40分に出発した。

天文台裏の蓮花峰は強風で寒いため記念撮影を手早く済ませて下山を開始した。

下山路はやや急な山道で、途中、喜方瀑布の全面氷結がみごとだった。

喜方寺駐車場の前には4時半ごろ到着。今回も佳蓮峰さんの誘いに乗って、バスの待つ駐車場までタクシーに乗り、中間の人々をこっそり追い越した。
ティップリは小白山公園内ではできないので、バスで15分ほど下った食堂の下の駐車場でやったが、風が強くでおちついていられない。椅子は出さずに中腰で豚肉入キムチチゲを食べ、マッコリを飲んだ。

今回は今年８回目の登山で、アトサン定期登山に参加したのはこれで269回目だ。 ティップリは5時半ごろ切り上げ、帰路を急いだ。南門には8時過ぎに到着。大田は暖かく感じられた。今回は今年8回目、アトサン定期登山269回目である。今年も冬山登山をすべて安全に参加できたことを感謝。
