140711 The 2nd visit on Korea: The 2nd day “From Seoul to Daejeon and IDP”

Date: July 11 (Fri) Fine

Itinerary: Hoegi – Yangjae (Hanjeon Art Center) – Bulgwan (Seoul Social Economy Center) – GwanNam Highway Bus Terminal – Daejeon Highway Bus Terminal – Hanpit Apartment

I checked out at CMS INN at 9 am. Then I took the subway from Hoegi to Yangjae.

I visited Hanjeon Art Center where one of my Japanese friends, Mr. Kinoshita contributed his watercolor picture to the “Three-Country-Waterpaint Exhibition.”

The three countries are Korea, USA and Japan. Since it is the time when the political relationship among these countries is not very good (esp. Korea and Japan), it is important to keep good relationship at citizen level, I believe.

I could arrive at Yangjae Station without much difficulties, but it was not too easy to find the exhibition cite.

When I found the place, after asking three times, they said the exhibition was not ready yet. I told them that I was a friend of Japanese contributor, and I needed to go to Daejeon in the afternoon, the man in charge allowed me to see the exhibition before opening time.

There were over hundred waterpaints on the wall, but I could easily find my friend’s paint. I thought his paint was emanating aura. It was a picture of cooks at a kitchen.

After seeing Mr. Kino’s picture, I went back to Yangjae Station. I took the No. 3 subway again, to Bulgwan Station. It took me more than 30 minutes, and I arrived at Bulgwan Station a little past than 11:30.

My long-term friend, Mijoung was waiting for me at the exit. She took me to a noodle shop near her office. We had “Kalguksu” then went to her new office, “Seoul Social Economy Center.”

It seems like an NPO related to Seoul City Office. It must be a good work to support citizens like my second son, Ryo’s work back in Fukushima, Japan.

We have been acquaintances for decades. She often says she is my daughter in Korea. Her father passed away before I saw her 20 years ago.

I left her office at around 1 pm and headed for “High Way Bus Terminal” Station from which I took a high way bus to Daejeon.

It was a delex type of big bus with only 28 seats. It costs only 14,000 won (about 1400 yen or 14 US dollars).

I arrived at Daejeon at around 3:30 and went to Hanpit Apartment by 4 pm.

Marta, an Ukrine lady who married a handsome Korean guy, BJ (Bongjun) always invite me to stay at their apartment.

We went to our friend’s apartment in the same Hanpit Apartment Complex to attend Friday International Dinner Party.

Grace and Barnabas open their apartment for many foreigners, mostly KAIST foreign students usually 2nd and 4th Friday.

I want to join their party (Friday IDP) and that is why I visit Korea on the 2nd weekend.

Yuna, one of my Korean hiking friends, joined the party with her daughter, Jiu. Jiu is an English speaking college student.

Other participants were; Germans, Ukraine family, Indians, Portuguese, Brazilians, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.

Topic for the meeting was “My plan for summer vacation”, The youth from Ukraine was planning to travel in Indonesia for a month. That was the biggest plan I heard that day.

Jiu’s dream was to become an interpreter, therefore her English was excellent.

The meeting was over before 9 pm. Marta’s apartment is on the 10th floor. It was cool if I opened the window, but the noise of motorcycle was a bit bothersome until midnight.

「帰国以来2回目の訪韓の第2日目：ソウルから大田(テジョン)へ、そしてIDP出席」

旅行日程：回期駅～良才駅「韓電アートセンター」～仏光駅～江南・高速ターミナル駅→大田の高速ターミナル駅～ハンピアパート

ぐっすりと寝てCMS INN を9時過ぎにチェックアウトした。地下鉄1号線の回期駅が近くて便利である。

鐘路３街で1号線から3号線に乗り換え、木下画伯の絵が展示されている良才の「韓電アートセンター」へ向かった。

木下画伯はソウルで開催された「三国(韓国・米国・日本)水彩画展」へ出品を要請されて応じたものである。

良才駅から案内文のとおりに歩くと建物はすぐに見つかったが、展示場にたどりつくまで3回も訊ねなければならなかった。しかも展示会場の入り口ではまだ準備中だから入れないと言われた。

友人の絵が展示されていて写真を撮りたいと説明したら入れてくれた。キノさんの絵は他の静物画や人物画に比べてとてもユニークですぐにわかった。

ほんのざっとだが登山で展望の良い場所へ来たような気分で見学できた。良才駅へ戻ったのは11時前だったが、ソウルの友人、ミジョンの勤務先のある仏光駅は同じ3号線でもかなり遠い。

約束の11時半にはすこし遅れてしまい、ミジョンからケータイに電話が入った。前回のソウル駅での待ち合わせのときは彼女は15分ぐらい遅れて来たのだから今回はかんべんしてもらおう。

仏光駅から彼女の勤務先の「ソウル特別市共同組合相談支援センター」の中間にある「カルグクス屋」で「豆カルグクス」をご馳走になった。

また、前回、彼女が宣言したとおり、新しい腰バックをプレゼントしてくれた。食事後、彼女の職場を訪問し、さらにアイスコーヒーをご馳走になった。

彼女の仕事はNPO支援のようで、私の次男・亮の仕事によく似ているようだ。そういえば彼女の生まれた年は1972年で次男と同じだった。

午後の仕事がはじまる13時に彼女の職場を辞し、再び良才駅へ戻って3号線で高速ターミナルへ向かった。

高速ターミナルは京釜線方面のティケット売り場へ向かい、大田までの28人乗りバスの最後のティケットを買った。

一番後ろの席だが、ちゃんとリクライニングはできる。毎日新聞社主催の草津白根行きバスに比べれははるかに快適で料金は14000ウォンと、これまた格安である。

ただし、到着した場所は政府庁舎ではなく、高速バスターミナルで、ここからハンピアパートまでのタクシー代は9000ウォンだった。

4時ごろハンピアパートに到着し、ヘギョンから電話があり、教会の重要な集まりがあるのでIDPは参加できないが、グレイスとマルタに挨拶に行くと言う。

マルタは途中でケーキを買っていった。タンポポさんが、大学生に娘(ジウ？)をつれて、大きな一品(ポテト料理)を持ってきて料理していた。

集まったのはウクライナの母子を含め約20人。国籍はインド、ポルトガル、ブラジル、ドイツ、中国、ベトナムと多彩だ。

お題は「今年の夏休みの予定」で、ウクライナ青年のインドネシア1ヶ月の旅行が一番大掛かりな計画のようだった。

ジウの希望はインタープリターになることで、英語は流暢だった。

マルタの部屋は137棟1002で窓を通しであければ風が通って涼しい。しかし夜遅くまでオートバイの音がうるさかった。
