140909 Guide Tour in Tokyo after Mt. Fuji(富士山登山後の東京案内)

Sightseeing Place: Tokyo (Shinjuku Imperial Palace, Tokyo Skytree, “Soramachi” (Sky City).

Sightseeing Course: Shinjuku – Ueno – Tokyo – Skytree – Uedno (Capsel Hotel)

My Guests: Maro from Germany and Bernardo from Mexico.

My 6th and the last hiking to Mt. Fuji in the year of 2015 was the best of all. I saw the three different “Kage Fuji” or Shadow of Mt. Fuji at once, that was the best of it.

After coming down from Mt. Fuji to Subashiri Gogome, we took bus to Gotemba, then took a train to Shinjuku, changing trains at Matsuda to Odakyu Line.

We arrived at Shinjuku at 12:30, then we used coin-locker to leave our luggage, and we went to Tokyo Metorpolitan Govoerment Building to have sky view from its 45th floor (observatory floor.)

We also had lunch at the same building, at a Chinese restaurant underground.

Then we went back to the coin-locker at Shinjuku Station. After picking up our luggage, we went to the capsel hotel where I reserved for them in Ueno.

I helped them to check-in, and then leaving our luggage there, and headed for Tokyo Station.

When Mario and his wife came to Tokyo last time, they went to Mary’s Coffee Shop at the 1st floor of Kitte Building. They liked the coffee there very much, so he invited us to the same coffee shop.

The coffee tasted good, but I’m afraid that we spent too much time there. When we went to the imperial palace, it was after 5 pm when the gate was closed.

So we just walked along “Ohori” or the imperial moat, and could not go into the palace.

We took a subway from Ootemachi and went to Tokyo Sky Tree.

The fares for the Sky Tree are double charge: Up to the first observatory which is 250 meters from the ground, costs 2000 yen. Then up to 350 meters from the ground, it costs another 1000 yen. Mario paid all costs for the 3 people by himself. Bernardo and I thanked him for his generousity.

After seeing the night views from two different observatories, we came down to the ground, and thought about dinner. They wanted to have “sushi” so I asked the information dest to recommend a nice sushi restaurant. They recommended a popular sushi restaurant at Soramachi.

It was a “kaiten zushi” or roataing sushi shop. It was very popular and we had to wait for nearly 20 minutes.

It was a bit expensive comparing the similar sushi shop in Ofuna, but the taste was really good.

Mario asked the name of “Maaji(マアジ)” in English, so, I asked the cook how to say “Maaji” in English. They told me horse mackaral and I thought it was “Saba (サバ)”. Actually, “Saba” is mackaral, and “Maaji” is “Japanese horse mackaral” or “Japanese jack mackaral.” Thanks to Mario, here also he paid the whole price of sushi by himself.

We returned to Ueno from Soramachi by subway. On our way to the subway station, we happed to see the group of 4 Malaysians whom we met two days before at Subashiri Gogome.

I guess they also came to the Skytree after visiting Mt. Fuji two days ago.

When we returned to the “capsule” hotel at 11 pm. I decided to stay at the same “capsule” hotel with them.

It was my 2nd experience, after staying at a capsule hotel in Fukuoka with Alan, in February 2008.

We drank beer after taking a bath at a drink corner. A glass of beer was free of charge for all guests that night.

It must be the first and the last chance for them to stay at such a (capsule) hotel in Japan.

今年最後の富士山登山は最高の富士登山だったと思う。なによりも３つの異なる『影富士』を見ることができたのがよかった。

下山も順調で、須走五合目から御殿場までバス、御殿場からは電車で、松田で小田急に乗り換え、新宿に出た。

新宿には12時半ごろ到着し、コインロッカーに荷物をしまってから、都庁ビルへ向かった。
