140801 “Bullet Climbing” of Mt. Fujii「富士山弾丸登山」“후지산 총알 등산”

Date: Aug. 1-2, 2014 Fine, but Rain at night, then Fine

Hiking route: Subaru 5th Station – Kusushi Shrine – Yamaguchiya – Sengen Taisha – Hinodekan (7th St.) – Ohsunabashiri – Jirobo – Ohishi Chaya – Bus Stop (Gotembaguchi 5th St.)

Partners: Daedeok Univ. (20 students, 2 professors +1)

I worked as a Japanese teacher at Daedeok University until last year. They sent a group of students with two professors to Japan. They wanted to climb Mt. Fuji most economically.

Marty, a good friend of mine and professor of Tokoha University, took the role of agent, to arrange their trip to Japan, together with some other people and asked me to guide them to Mt. Fuji.

So, I went to join them in Shizukoka by Tokaido Line. Marty picked me up at Higashi-shizuoka, and we headed for the base camp at Suomi Elementary School.

Next to Suomi Elementary School is Maria International Kindergarten. They did a similar activity some 5 years ago. I also guided the group of Daedeok University students then.

We had dinner at a nearby restaurant after visiting the elementary school. It was a nice dinner, but while having dinner, it began to rain.

It was really a bad weather. While we were heading for the 5th station of Subaru Line, it began lightening and thunder!

In spite of the bad weather, no body gave up the hiking plan. We arrived at the 5th station at 9:45 pm. It was raining hard, yet we began walking.

There were almost no hikers walking except us. I saw three foreigners from the 5th to the 6th station. The lighting flashed in the darkness and it was really threatening.

Fortunately, the rain stopped while we were climbing at around 7th station. When we arrived at the 8th station, the rain stopped completely, but one of the professors had his legs cramped.

One of the students got sick probably because of alpine sickness.

They could not walk fast. Among 20 students, one of them was the best student in my last class. It was his 2nd experience of climbing Mt. Fuji and he said he would take care of them (the professor and the student).

So, I led the rest of the people and headed for the summit. We could arrive at the summit of Mt. Fuji at around 5 a.m. We could see the sunrise at the top of Mt. Fuji in front of Kusushi Shrine.

We waited for the three members who walked very slowly for nearly 2 hours. Finally they joined us on the summit at 7 am.

We went to Yamagushiya for having ramen. After having ramen, we walked around the crater toward Sengen Shrine.

We began descending through Gotemba route called “Ohsunabashiri.” It was my first experience to walk down “Ohsunabashiri.” It was fun because the trail was like sand slope.

I could walk down by almost jumping down one step to another. But those who got tired with pains in their legs, it must be nighmare.

Only a few of them could follow with my pace. I was alone followed by a couple strongest students, about 30 minutes distance.

When I reached at Ohishi-goya lodge at Gotembaguchi-5th station, I saw a Korean man in charge of the whole trip, Mr. Lee.

He said he could bring the whole group to their base camp by his car. So, I went to the bus stop alone and went back to Ofuna by myself.

I took a bus to JR Gotemba Station and went back to Ofuna by myself.

They went on for their own schedule, so my 2nd hike to Mt. Fuji was over.

同行者：韓国・大徳大学男子学生20人、教授等3人

私が昨年まで韓国で日本語を教えていた大徳大学の学生たち約30人が訪日し、そのうち男子学生20人と引率の教授二人が富士登山を希望し、私が案内することになった。

実際の登山参加者は関連機関の日本人が加わり、総勢24人の大舞台になった。

私は大船を13:25発熱海行きで熱海にて浜松行きに乗り換え東静岡着15:35。マーティが北口広場でマイクロバスで待っていて、そのまま大徳大学の学生、引率の教授、韓日人材協力機構の李さんをピックアップして庄司先生のマリア幼稚園・素和美(スオミ)小学校へ向かった。

ここをベースに富士山弾丸登山をした。4年ぶりに見るマリア国際幼稚園の隣には国際村が着々と建設が進んでいた。

ここでは英語の達人の求人がある。残念ながら、今回の大徳大学精密機械工学科の学生たちは日本語こそそこそこにできるが、英語はちょっとという学生ばかりだ。

韓日人材協力帰国の李さんが果たしてニーズを埋められるかは私は悲観的だ。さて、久しぶりに会った庄司先生とマリア園長には初孫が誕生していた。4年前にも会った彼らの娘マリーナに子供ができていた。たぶん3歳未満の男の子のようだ。

かれらも含め、われわれはマリア幼稚園の父兄が経営しているレストラン「いこい」で豪華な夕食をいただいた。

二人の大学教授はステーキ、今泉さんはナポリタンスパゲッティ、マーティと私はしょうが焼き定食、学生たちはそれぞれ気に入ったものを注文。しかし、あきらかにマスター一人、ウェイトレス一人の厨房で12人＋5人ほどの注文を消化するには時間がかかる。

このレストランでほぼ1時間を費やした後、8時半過ぎにレストランを出たときは土砂降りの雨。しかも学生たちの弁当を調達し、さらに雨具まで調達すれば時間はどんどん過ぎる。

結局、準備を整え、スバルライン五合目に到着したのは21:45。五合目では麓ほどの土砂降りではなかったが、雷鳴がとどろき、稲妻が走る、最悪のコンディションだった。

五合目の土産屋も1件を除いてすべて営業が終わり、その最後の一軒もシャッターを下ろす時点にわれわれはようやく出発の準備ができたという有様だ。

登山者は、われわれ以外は欧米人らしい3人がいたのみ。それでも富士山入山料を徴収する人たちがいたが、我々はすでに雨具を装着していて財布は出せない。私が出さない以上誰も出す人間はいない。ごめん。

また、入山者はわれわれ以外はその欧米人らしき3人だけで、登山道はほとんど無人。真っ暗闇の雨の登山道で稲妻の閃光が光り、雷鳴がとどろく中を六合目、さらに七合目を目指して一行を誘導した。

幸いなことに六合目を過ぎるころ、雨が止み、七合目の山小屋に着いたころは完全に雨は止んだ。雨具はしまい、やや快適になった登山を続けた。七合目から八合目にいたるころ、金教授の足が攣り、ペースが遅れ始めた。

八合目の太子館を過ぎ、白雲荘を過ぎた時点から遅れがひどくなり始めた。私と韓教授と今泉さんと学生５人は日の出の瞬間は九合目の上あたりにいた。

したがって変わり行く空の色と日の出の瞬間を見ることができた。しかし、金教授と学生３人がいつまでたっても到着しない。韓教授が連絡を取ろうとしても金教授の電話は電源が切れた状況だ。李さんとの電話連絡はできた。およそ2時間遅れで彼らが九合目の鳥居をすぎたところを韓教授がみつけた。やれやれ、ようやく一体となれた。

頂上の神社の石柱で認証写真を撮ったあと、山口屋支店でラーメンを６個注文し、学生たちは１つを半分ずつ分け合って、持参した弁当とともに食べて朝食とした。その後、御殿場口への下山路へ向かった。

頂上郵便局で用意した葉書を投函し、下山を始めた。この下山路は４つの下山路のうちでもっとも長いもので、元気なものなら一足３メートルといわれる豪快な砂走り下山を体験できるが、くたくたに疲れた者、とくに金教授にはきつかったことだろう。

私は最後の宝永山との分岐点でしばらく待ち、今泉さんが到着し、金教授もすぐ近くまで来ているという報告を受けてから、一人で下山を急いだ。麓の大石小屋では李さんと庄司先生が待っていたが、私が到着した時刻が11時で、残りは12時過ぎになると伝えると、庄司先生はあきらめて帰った。

私はキンキンに冷えたキリンビール中瓶を700円で買い、自分で持参した金麦2缶を混ぜながら飲んだ。そうこうしているうちに今泉さんが到着し、また、私は12時過ぎのバスがあるというので、バス停に向かった。大徳大学の一行とはここで別れたきりとなった。

御殿場駅に到着するとすでに特急列車がホームに入っていたので、ぜいたくだとは思いつつ、特急あさぎりで相模大野へ行き、ここで藤沢行きの普通に乗り換え、さらに藤沢でJRに乗り換えて大船へもどった。今回は、無泊二日の弾丸登山で、交通費の合計は4113円だった。 往路：　金曜日大船～東静岡運賃(IC優先)： 往路2,270円＋復路4113＝6383円

復路：富士宮口～御殿場：バス1110円、御殿場～相模大野：特急あさぎり2510円(乗車券込み)、相模大野～大船493円：計4,113円

Rute: Taishikan (8th St.) – Yamaguchiya (Summit) – Kengamine (3,776m) – Down Trail – The 5th Station (Subaru Route)

Transportation: The 5th Station - (Bus) – Kawaguchiko – (Fuji Tozan Train) – Otsuki – (Chuo Line) – Shinjuku – (Shonan Shinjuku Line) – Ofuna

During the peak season (July – August) there are many hikers climb Mt. Fuji. The trails near the summit are always very crowded.

It may take a couple of hours from 8th Station to the summit if there were a few hikers. Because of so many hikers it may take more than 3 hours.

So many hikers left Taishikan, including the couple in the same room, before the midnight.

I got up a little before the midnight and left the lodge at midnight. I could reach at the summit at 3:40 am.

It was a good timining because “Yamaguchiya” a lodge with restaurant, opened its shop at 3:45 am. I entered the lodge as soon as it opened and ordered “ramen.”

It is rather cold on the summit of Mt. Fuji, so hot noodle was very popular among hikers. It costs 900 yen, a bit expensive, comparing those restaurant in regular towns. But it worth paying that much. I liked the ramen very much.

After having ramen, I went to the place where you could get good views of the sun rise.

It was rather clear day, but the sun came out among clouds, yet it was beautiful.

Then I soon started to walk around the crater. It is called “Ohachi-meguri” and it takes about 70 minutes to walk around the crater.

There was a temporary post office on Shizuoka-ken side. Then I had to climb a steep slope to reach the real summit of Mt. Fuji called “Kengamine.”

There is a stone post on Kengamine and I asked a stranger to press the shutter of my camera.

Fortunately, it was a clear day and I could see the shadow of Mt. Fuji very clearly.

After walking around the crater, I began descending the mountain. It was a bit monotonous and long simple walk.

When I came down close to the 5th station, I saw a flower looked like“kuroyuri” or black lily for the first time on Mt. Fuji.

I arrived at the bus stop at the 5th station at 8:20 amd took the 8:30 bus to Kawaguchiko Station.

Then I took a special train to Otsuki from Kawaguchiko. It was not crowd at all and I noticed a lady who was sitting on the seat of the same train.

She was the German lady I saw at the 1.5 station previous day.

She was sitting with her friend and we enjoyed casual talk on the train.

From Otsuki to Shijuku, I took Chuo Line Train and from Shinjuku to Ofuna, I took Shonan Shinjuku Line.

As the first hike to Mt. Fuji in the year of 2014, I really enjoyed a nice hike with good weather.

富士山は頂上付近がいつも非常に込み合う。渋滞になると頂上に着かないうちに日の出を迎えるばあがある。

確実を期して早めに出発するハイカーが多い。同部屋のカップルはなんと11時に出発した。私は太子館をちょうど12時に出発した。

頂上にあまり早く着きすぎても日の出を待つ時間がつらいので、調整しながら登った。頂上には3時40分に到着した。

頂上の山口屋が3時45分に開店するとすぐに入り、味噌ラーメンを注文した。

富士山の頂上の味噌ラーメンの値段は900円ともちろん高いが、気温が低いこともあって、味はひとしおである。

山口屋の前はいつも大勢の人だかりだが、日の出をみながら火口を時計回りに一周した。

山口屋前から時計回りに火口をまわると、富士宮口登山路に出る。その脇には夏の間だけ開局する臨時郵便局がある。登山客は富士山頂からはがきなどを投函できる。

この郵便局の壁には温度計があり、室内の気温は約14度と比較的暖かかった。

剣ヶ峰の手前の急坂はいつもしんどいが、この日は影富士が見事に見えて疲れも忘れる。

剣ヶ峰では見知らぬ人にシャッターを押してもらい、認証写真を撮ってもらった。

火口を一周してから下山を開始した。いつもながら、単調な下山路はけっこうつらい。

六合目を過ぎてスバル口方面へ下り、馬車道に出る手前の岩場で、私にとって初めて見るクロユリのような花をみつけた。この花がはたしてクロユリであるかどうかは定かではないが珍しい花だ。

スバルライン五合目のバス停には8時20分ごろ到着し、ちょうど停まっていた8時半の川口湖行きのバスに乗った。

河口湖からは富士登山鉄道で大月にでて、大月から中央線で大船へ戻った。

河口湖から乗った富士登山鉄道は、特別記念列車で、車両の中がまるでリビングルームのような仕立てであった。

また、同じ車両に乗った外国人の女性が私にジョージではないかと声をかけてきた。なんと、前日、1.5合目で偶然会ったドイツ人の女性だった。

今回は彼女の友人もいて、会話を楽しんだ。彼女らとは大月で別れた。

今年初めての富士山を麓から登った感想は、麓から六合目までの登山が自然が豊富で実に素晴らしかったということである。

また、天候に恵まれたことが何よりで、いきなり影富士が見えたのはラッキーだった。
