101226 Seoul/Hwaseong Fortress (Suwon)

Kikko visited Korea alone on Dec. 26. Originally, she planned to visit with her friends, but her friends cancelled their trip because of recent North Korean attack on Yongpyongdo last month. She also wanted to cancel, but I encouraged her to visit Korea, so she came alone. Actually it was our first sightseeing trip around Korea for 25 years. We visited Korea for our 15th wedding anniversary in 1985.

One of our good friend, M happened to be in Seoul that day. He kindly offered to see my wife at Gimpo Airport that morning, and he drove us to Seol where we were to see our old friends at a Korean “samgetang” restaurant near Blue House.

Seunghe and Mijeong are good old friends who visited us in Japan about 15 years ago. Since I live in Korea, I sometimes see them from time to time, but it was a reunion after about 15 years for my wife and them.

We enjoyed the talks and nice “samgetang” soup at the famous restaurant named “Tosokchon” near Blue House. After the lunch, M drove us to Hwaseong, in Suwon, the suburb of Seoul.

Since M had experience of driving in USA, he rented a car in Korea and drove without any difficulties. He could drive us to Suwon easily with the help of navigator-system, but he did not join us for sightseeing of Hwaseong. It was too cold for him and he took a nap in the car while we were having sightseeing tour inside of the fortress.

It was very cold for sightseeing that day. We took a sightseeing train-bus which went half of the fortress, and we visited Hwaseong Information Center, and Musium there for less than hone hour, and hurried to Suwon Station from which we took KTX to Busan.

To my regret, we did not use taxi from Busan Station to our hotel, Tokyu-in Busan, Seomyon. In stead, we used subway and had a hard time to go to our hotel that night.

We stayed for two nights at the same hotel in Busan, and we had a sigle day organized tour for Japanese next day.

101226 ソウル・華城(水原)

2010年末12月26日に妻が訪韓。私が二日間で水原、釜山、慶州を案内した。二人だけで韓国を旅行するのは結婚15周年記念旅行で初めて韓国を訪れた1985年以来25年ぶりである。

偶然、同時期に訪韓中の静岡の友人Mが妻が着陸した金浦空港で26日朝9時に出迎えてくれ、私も当日大田からバスで来て合流した。

Mは国際免許を持ち、韓国でレンカカーを借りていたので、その車で韓国人の古い友人である洪(ホン)スンヘと梁(ヤン)ミジョンの待つ、青瓦台の近くの「土俗村(トソクチョン)」という参鶏湯専門店に向かった。

土俗村には11頃到着、妻はクリーミーな参鶏湯と、約15年ぶりの彼女らとの再会を楽しんだ。

昼食後、Mは韓流ドラマに影響された妻のリクエストで水原の「華城」へ我々を運んでくれた。Mは米国での運転経験があり、韓国での車の運転に不安はないようで、ナビゲーターも活用し、迷うことなく初めて訪れる「華城」へ案内してくれた。

ただ、この日の韓国は非常に寒く、「華城」の観光はせず、我々が「華城」を観光している間、駐車場で仮眠をとっていた。

我々も華城の観光は列車型の観光バスで城内を半周し、広報センターの見学と博物館のコーヒーショップでの休憩のみで切り上げた。

Mはその後、水原の駅まで送ってくれて、我々は韓国の新幹線KTXの特室(グリーン車)で、釜山へ向かった。

釜山では地下鉄を利用して西面で下車し、東急インに投宿したが、大きな荷物を持っての移動で苦労し、タクシーを利用しなかったことを悔いた。

[At last, we arrived at the Hotel Toyoko-in Busan-Somyon, ようやく東横イン釜山西麺に到着した。드디어 토요고인 부산 서면에 도착했다. ]

我々は翌日も同じホテルで連泊。翌日は日帰りで慶州のツアーを楽しんだ。
