Destination was Mt. HwaWangSan, ChangNyong, GyongNam Province. Among 37 participants, there were 3 foreingers (Chris, Soumen and myself.)
Chris took 5:30 KTX in Seoul, and came to Expo South Gate at 6:45. It really requires great efforts and extra cost to attend AhToSan hike from Seoul. Since he speaks fluent Korean language, he is quite popular among AhToSan members.
Soumen from India is also popular, esp. among female hikers. That is because he looks cute. He is also a good hiker and he is always in the top group.
On the bus, AhToSan awarded Poram as a best member, who attended 10 consecutive AhToSan regular hikes without any break.
We arrived at Malheulli at 9:43. The cherry blossoms near the parking lot were almost gone, but as we walked up to the trail, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

[At the beginning of the hike, 登山開始直後、등산 시작 직후] As we walked among pine trees, we saw chindallae flowers were in full bloom. It was a bit rocky place. We had a short break and I offered 4 boxes of grapes and Chinese oranges. Chris also provided “Changsu makgeolli” from Seoul. All AhToSan members liked his makgeolli.
The rocky place was rather difficult to climb. I put my sticks besides the bag and used both hands to grab the rocks to climb the trail.
When we came to the ridge, it was a nice place to take pictures. The chindallae flowers match with rocks. We could see the top of HwaWangSan from there, too.
When we came through the rocky ridge, there was a field of pampas grass near the top of the mountain.
There was a place where water was running in the field, and it was where some archaeological excavation were going on.
[They were excavating the site,昔の遺跡の発掘現場、옛날 유적의 발굴 현장] Near the excavation site, there was a simple restaurant, where they were providing acorn-starch jelly and makgeolli. Some AhToSan members bought food and drinks and giving them to other members. I did not know who bought them, but I drank a cup of makgeolli and ate some pieces of acorn-starch jelly.
While climbing this field toward the top of HwaWangSan, I saw a pretty small iris and took a picture of this flower.
Later, I learned the name of the flower as Iris rossii Baker. According to a scientic paper found in the Net, Iris rossii Baker (Iridaceae) is one of the threatened plants growing in secondary grassland with sparse pine forest.
Korean name of this flower means “iris of newly married bride” because it is so pretty.
[Iris rossii Baker, エヒメアヤメ、각시붓꽃]Anyway, I ate lunch with some Korean hikers and Chris and Soumen. Soumen cooked eggs and shared them with other members. Chris brought Korean style “Oinarisan” originally from Japanese food. He said his girlfriend made them for him. He also shared his “Oinarisan” with AhToSan members.
[Lunch with Chris and Soumen, クリスやソウメンたちと昼食、크리스나 소우맨들과 함께 점심] We began afternoon hike at 12:30. We came to the stone fortress which was recently rebuilt for hikers (or sightseers.)
Then we came to the broad trail with “Kenari” or “forsythia” on both sides. They were just beautiful.

We (top group) chose the path to our destination, of course, but while walking, we took the wrong way to the deep valley. We had to return to the point, but we made another mistake. We came down to a villege far from the destination. Yet, we enjoyed our mistake.
We walked along the reservoir and walked extra a couple of kilometers. We finally joined the rest of the people at 4:15 p.m.
[In front of the reservoir, 貯水池の前で、노단이 저수지 앞에서] We moved to the restaurant which AhToSan reserved. We had “wrap-up party” at the restaurant, with traditional Korean food and makgeolli.

目的地は慶南、昌寧の火旺山。当初の計画は、末屹里(말흘리)切符売り場～将軍岩～船岩～火旺山頂上～観龍山～観龍寺(オクチョンリ)の10km、5時間30分のはずだったが、観龍山から稜線を歩いているうちに九龍山から右折すべきところを左折してしまい、急こう配の坂道を往復するアルバをしたうえ、さらに右折すべきところを左折して下ってしまい、観龍寺へは行かず、「ノダンイ(노단이)貯水池」から車道を延々と歩いてオクチョン(옥천리)駐車場に到着するという変化にとんだコースとなった。
参加者は37人。外国人はクリスとソウメンと私の3人だった。クリスはソウルを5時30分発のKTXで大田へ。地下鉄とタクシーを乗り継いで南門へ到着した。
バスでは前方右側で私の隣。なにせ身長193cm、100kgのからだだから気の毒だ。行く途上で、今年10回連続参加のポラムの優秀会員表彰があった。

[A group picture at Malheulli,末屹里(マルフルリ)にて団体写真、말흘리에서 단체사진]バスは途中の休憩1回で9時43分に末屹里(말흘리)駐車場に到着した。現地の駐車場は桜が散り始めて残花の葉桜となっていたがゆるやかな舗装道路を歩いて上がるうち、道路わきの先らはちょうど満開であった。
Cherry blossoms were still in full bloom, 桜はまだ満開だった。벚꽃이 아직 만발이었다.]参加者の中でクリスだけがはやくもタンパンでそれも早すぎる感じがしないほどの暖かさだった。
登山道はすぐに松林のなかに背の低いこぶりなチンダルレが満開の道となりやがて岩場に出た。
[Chindallae flowers among pine trees, 松林の中のチンダルレの花、소나무 숲속의 진달래 꽃]岩場に出たところでスズキタイム。今回は先頭を歩いていたので、参加人数が多く、すぐに4箱のブドウとキンカンが空っぽになった。また、クリスがソウルから長寿マッコリを持参。私の持参したナルマッコリよりも人気ですぐに終わった。岩場はなかなかの難所で全身を使って上らねばならない。スティックはしまって、両手を使って岩を登った。

[Chindallea flowers on the ridge, 稜線のチンダルレ、능선에 피어 있는 진달래]岩場を11時半ごろ登りきると今度はススキの原がみごとな頂上付近になる。高地にも関わらず、水がしみ出している部分があり、そこでは先史時代の遺跡の発掘が行われていた。
[They were excavating the site,昔の遺跡の発掘現場、옛날 유적의 발굴 현장] 発掘現場をすぎたところではトトリムック(도토리묵)をつまみにマッコリを売っていて、アトサンの誰かがふるまっていて私もごちそうになった。
ここで先頭グループの先を行っていたソウメンに会った。
この盆地から火旺山頂上へのぼるススキの原で紫色のちいさなアヤメのような花を見た。アトサンのサイトへ写真を上げたところ、流水がすぐに「カクシプッコ(각시붓꽃)」だと教えてくれて、続いて寒溪嶺がその由来をおしえてくれた。すなわち、「プッコ(붓꽃)」の家族の中で最も小さくかわいらしいので、嫁いできたばかりの新婦、「カクシ」のようだという意味だ。日本名は「エヒメアヤメ」というそうで、その古名は「タレユエソウ(誰故草)」というそうだ。
[Iris rossii Baker, エヒメアヤメ、각시붓꽃]火旺山の標石のまわりは登山客が多く、なかなか写真を撮る順番がまわってこない。すこし辛抱して自分の写真を撮った後、アトサン本隊の食事の場を通り過ぎた、一段下の空き地でKSやサンサラン、ソウメンやクリスと一緒に昼飯を食べた。
[At the top of HwaWangSan, 火旺山頂上にて、화왕산 정상에서]サンサランが持参したビールはまだ凍っていて、ちょっと冷え過ぎの感じだが、それでも軽く酔うほど飲ませてもらった。ソウメンは手作りの玉子焼きをみんなにふるまったがしょっぱすぎると言われてちょっと気の毒だった。クリスは彼女が作ってくれたという韓国式お稲荷さんをみんなにふるまい、私ももらった。
[Lunch time near the top of HwaWangSan, 火旺山頂上付近で昼食、화왕산 정상부근에서 점심]12時30分ごろ、食事を終えて出発したが少し出遅れた。緩やかな稜線を登ると復元したと思われる山城の石積みの上に出た。
石畳のようになった城壁の上を下ると観龍山へ続く道に出た。この道はオートバイはもちろん、四輪駆動も走れそうな林道で、道の両側はケナリとチンダルレの競演ですばらしかった。
[A broad way with "forsythia" on both sides, レンギョウが両側に咲いている広い林道、개나리가 양측에 피어 있는 넓은 임도]平坦な道をしばらく進むとドラマ「ホジュン(허준)」の撮影に使ったこじんまりしたロケ地へ出た。
[A set of TV drama "Heojun"、テレビドラマ「ホジュン」のロケ地、TV 드라마 「허준」의 촬영지]ここでもしばらく写真を撮ってから、さらに平坦な道を進むと釜谷（プゴク）温泉の立て看板のある場所に出た。
ここから尾根伝いに歩くと岩場の景観の良い所へ出た。ここまでボラムやホンジンもいっしょにいたが、このあと、道が上下に分かれ、私は今回初めて参加した男性(일송정님)と下の道を進んだ。
すると大きな岩の下にビニールで作った簡単な庵がある部分に出て、そこを過ぎると上の道と合流し、チョンジョンたちと合流した。
たぶんそのへんが九龍山で、ちょっとした開けた土地で分岐点があり、この辺には翁草の群落があった。
先頭のつもりの一団12人がそっくり道を間違えて最後尾(フミ)になってしまった。九龍山からコースハズレの574峰への道はすごい急傾斜だったがしっかりした鉄柱と真新しいロープがあり、下りは楽だったが、登りはきつかった。
結局かなりしんどいおもいをしてコースの稜線に戻り、険しい岩の部分を進んだが、ここでまた、先頭を進んだＫＳにつられて観龍寺とは反対側の稜線を下ってマウル(村)に出てしまった。
結局、そのマウル(村)を通過して広々とした車道に出て、ノダニ(노단이)貯水池に出てしまった。
あとは車道をそのまま下り、オクチョン駐車場に着いたのは16:15だった。
全員そろったところでバスでさらに少し下った「伝統民俗サムパプ」という食堂(シクタン)でマッコリとパジョンと豆腐とキムチのティップリを5時までやって帰路に着いた。
