100925 Mt. SamBongSan (1187m) in Jirisan 智異山の三峰山

Date: Sep. 25 (Sat) 2010 Fine all day

Place: Mt. Jirisan/Mt. SamBongSan (1187m), HamYang, GyongBuk-do/Namwon, JeonBuk-do

Course: The 1st Gate of Mt. Jiri – Mt. ODoBong – Mt. SamBongSan – Mt. KimDaeSan – KimDaeAm Temple – Machon Elementary School (Planned for 12 km/5 hours, actually 16 km 7 hours)

Partners: 44 AhToSan members including “Po” from Thailand.

It was a beautiful day and fine weather of fall. We left Daejeon (Expo South Gate Parking Lot) at 7 pm and arrived at the starting point of #1 Gate of Mt. Jiri at 9:40 am.

The altitude of the starting point is 773m and the highest peok of this hike was 1187m, therefore the difference is only 414 meters. So, it was not too difficult hike at all. Some members enjoyed picking up some mushrooms and nuts of pinetrees,会員が採ったキノコや松の実、회원이 채집한 버섯이나 솔방울]

I walked mostly with “Po” from Thailand. She must be the youngest among all members. She is a trainee at KASI (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute), the same institute where Bernardo works.

We walked along the ridge and arrived at the first peach called “ODoBong” at 10:50 am.

Then we arrived at the highest peak of the day: SamBongSan at 11:30 am.

The place was too narrow to have lunch all together, so we went on hiking until the place where we had enough space to have lunch all together.

I enjoyed my lunch sharing with other members as usual. It was a clear fall day, and good day to take pictures.

We kept going along the ridge, and came to the rocky place. All members enjoyed climbing up to the rocks and taking pictures each other.

Then we climbed the peak called BaekUnSan, then to the last peak called KumDaeSan at 3 p.m. and began decending the mountains.

We came to the temple called KumDaeAm and the trail was splitted into two ways. We asked a man of the temple about the direction, but he indicated the wrong way.[KumDaeAm Temple, 金台庵、금대암]

We walked more than 90 minutes for the course which should be for 20 minutes.

So when we arrived at the destination, it was 4:30 p.m. It took us about 7 hours!

Anyway, we had “Tippuri” party at the ground of a closed elementary school. We usually have the party at parking lot, or just along the street. It was much better to park at the school ground where nobody bothered us at all.

The menu were: “Namuru” or seasoned vegitable, “Dotormuk” or acorn-starch jelly paste, and “Makgeolli” or Korean raw rice wine.

The chairman of AhToSan bought extra Makgeolli and we enjoyed the party very much.

On the way back to Daejeon, we stopped at a cosmos field. We enjoyed taking pictures with cosmos flowers. So, we came back to Daejeon at 8:30 p.m. It was another nice hiking trip to Mt. Jiri.

登山場所：慶南（キョンナム）咸陽（ハミャン）/全北（チョンブク）、南原（ナムォンの智異山（チリサン）の三峰山(サムボンサン：1,187m)

コース：智異山第一門～オドボン(오도봉)～三峰山～金台山～金台庵～馬川小学校

今回は天気が良くて青空と秋の雲がみなよく撮れた。出発地点の「智異山第一門」は高度がすでに773mあり、急な上り坂はなく、最初から稜線を伝うハイキングだった。

三峰山は1187mなので標高差はわずか414mにすぎない。最初の峰、「オドボン」に着いたのは10時50分。

三峰山には11時半に着いた。食事は三峰山を過ぎた登山路がやや広くなった場所でチョンジョンら先頭グループといっしょに食べた。

アランドロン会長に率いられた中間グループが10分ほど遅れて到着したが、先頭グループは先に出発。金台庵(クムデアム)に向かった。

白雲山(ペクウンサン：903m)には1時45分に到着。この日はあくまで快晴で気持ち良い。

ここから今回唯一の岩場に出た。落ちたら大けがをしそうな岩に登って写真を撮りまくった。

また、KS夫婦が「チャ」と呼ばれる大きな松ぼっくりやきのこを、またヌリンポ夫妻も大量のキノコを採っていた。韓国のハイカーは趣味と実益を兼ねるからすごい。

この後、最後のピークである金台山(クムデサン：847m)に登ってから金台庵に出たのは3時だった。

ところが、ここから下山路を誤ったようで、バスが待つ馬川(マチョン)小学校の上の橋からずっと下流の別の橋「カフン橋(가흥교)」まで下ってしまった。

結局、寺からバスまで本来なら20分ですむところを1時間半もかけて歩き、バスに着いたのは4時半だった。
道を誤ったのはわれわれだけではなく、20人以上がまとまって、ティップリ場所の廃校でバスを待っていた。

廃校は広いグランドが使えて、いつもの駐車場や道路脇よりもティップリをするのは都合が良い。また、この廃校にはすてきな彫像がそのまま残っていて、ノルタルジックな雰囲気がある。

ティップリのメニューはヨレジさんが準備したナムルとトトリムックとマッコリ。ナムルは最近日本でも売られていてご存知の方も多いと思うが、トトリムックは日本ではほとんど見かけない。ドングリをあく抜きしてトコロテンのようにゼリー状にしたもので、薬味をつけて食べる。毎度おなじみのマッコリは「濁り酒」である。

みなさん、興に乗ったのか、マッコリがすすみ、アランドロン会長が不足分を追加して購入、結局6時ごろまで飲んで帰ったため南門には8時半に戻った。

途中、コスモスの群生場所で写真撮影もして楽しんだため、1時間以上余分に歩いたこともさっぱり苦にならない楽しいハイキングだった。

DR #184 “Short Autumn in 2010”

I wrote about my 200th anniversary hike at AhToSan in my previous DR (Daejeon Report) in June.

I kept hiking with AhToSan while I was in Korea. It was my 216th hike with AhToSan last week.

I also climbed moutains in Japan was well. During my relatively long summer vacation, I climbed 5 mountains including Mt. Fuji and Mt. Hotaka (in North Alps).

In September, during “Chusok vacation,” I also traveled with one of my best hiking friends, Bernardo around Shikoku and Kyushu.

My best Japanese hiking friend, Mr. Matsumoto, guided us to Mt. Tsurugi and Mt. Ishizuchi while we were in Shikoku.

These hiking were “summer” hiking in August and September. When Bernardo and I landed on Pusan on Sep. 23rd, it began “autumn” in Korea.

Then suddenly winter began in Korea this week. Oh, how short it was for autumn this year!

The 2nd cemester began in the last week of August. This week is just the middle week for this cemester. My students have “mid-term exam” this week.

Unlike the first cemester, I had extra classes in the evening and at night, 12 hours a week every week.

They classified students according to their levels. I have the best stuents among them. I prepare text for each class using EBS text and Japanese newspaper columns. They are all eager, and show much progress every week.

When I climb mountains with young people, like Bernardo, I sometimes feel “I am too slow” especially when I face steep upward trails. Yet, I tell to myself, “Never give up.” “Keep walking, then I shall reach the destination.”

Similar thought came in when I felt that I was too slow learning foreign languages (right now Korea and Chinese.) Yet, the important thing is “Never give up” and “Slow and steady.”

DR 184「短かった2010年の秋」

前々号のDR#182号でアトサン山岳会で私の200回目の登山を祝ってくれたお話をした。

その後も韓国にいる間はアトサン山岳会の登山に毎週参加を続け、先週で216回になった。

今年はアトサンの他にも夏休みには富士山や北アルプスの穂高を含めて5回の登山、そして秋夕(チュソク)という韓国の「お盆」休みにも四国の名山を2か所(剣山と石鎚山)に登った。

四国の山は九州の友人に案内してもらい、メキシコ人の友人、ベルナルドとともに登った。この時までは夏山が続いたが、9月22日に下関から釜山へ上陸したとたん、涼しい空気に触れ、韓国の秋が始まった。

そして今週、いきなり気温は10℃以下にまで落ちて、冬が始まったようだ。今年の韓国の秋はわずか1ヶ月しか続かなかったようだ。

2か月続いた夏休みが終わり、8月の最後の週から二学期が始まったが、今週はちょうどその折り返しの第9週目で学生たちは中間試験。

今学期は昼間の授業のほか、学生たちをその力量に応じてクラス分けし、夕方5時から6時半までの夕刻クラスと、夜間7時から9時40分までの夜間クラスを開講している。

私は一番上級クラスを担当し、教材はEBSの日本語中級のテキストのほか、新聞のコラムを取り上げて、語句の意味や読みの他、書き取りなども実施している。

上級クラスの学生たちは短い期間に実力をつけ、かなり長いセンテンスの聞き取りもこなすのをみて毎回、感心している。若さと彼らの熱意によるものと毎回敬服する次第である。

若い人々と山行するとき、自分が速く登山することができないため取り残される感じがするときもままあるが、あきらめないことが大切だと自分に言い聞かせている。

語学の学習も、私の場合、力を入れているのは韓国語と中国語だが、これもあきらめずに着実に続けようと自分に言い聞かせている。

The 6th day of the trip to Shikoku & Kyushu

Sep. 22, 2010 (Wed) Cloudy, occasionally little rain.

Leg: Kokura Port～JR Kokura Station⇒ Hakata⇒ Futsukamachi ⇒　Dazaifu Station～Dazaifu～Kyushu National Museum ～ Dazafu Station⇒Ftsukaichi⇒Kokura～Kokurajo (Castle)～Kokura Station⇒Shimonoseki→Ferry Boat to Pusan

They turned on the light in the cabin at 4 a.m. We arrived at Kokura Port at 5 a.m. Bernardo and I disembarked on the port and walked to JR Kokura Station in the dark. We put our bags in the coin locker there, and bought a set of discount tickets to Hakata (2400 yen for a round-trip by limited express “Tokkyu.”

We changed trains at Hakata to Futsukaichi, and then Futsukaichi to Dazaifu. We arrived at Dazaifu at 7 a.m. It’s my 4th visit, so I guided Bernardo around Dazaifu, the historical site of shrine.

There are gigantic trees in the shrine, and many carp in the pond. I bought feed for the fish and we feeded big carp there.

It was a bit early for sightseers, and all people working at the shrine gathered at the main building. The priest was performing some ceremory with such workers there.

After seeing the shrine and had breakfast, we headed for Kyushu National Museum just behind the shrine.

The museum is on the hill, and they facilitated escalator to connect the shrine and the museum. This was my 3rd visit to the museum, yet there were many exhibitions to see. Bernardo borrowed a special gaget with which he could hear explanations about exhibitions, so he showed strong interests and checked each exhibition.

Probably because of lack of sleep previous night, I felt exhausted. While seeing “high vision theater” I fell in sleep. But Bernardo never got tired. After seeing exhibitions for 2 hours, finally we got out of the museum.

On the way back to Kokura, we walked in the city of Futukaichi. I found white spider lilies in a small park. It was a rare chance to see “white” spider lilies, so we took several pictures.

We went back to Kokura via Hakata. It began raining a little bit. We had “gyudon” lunch at Yoshinoya in Kokura, then walked to Kokura Castle.

It is rather small castle, compared with Matsuyamajo. And inside of the castle was nothing but a kind of modern museum. Yet, I could enjoy seeing that “museum” including a comical video show explain the old day life.

I like the exhibition of “old-day Kokura” set. There was a telescope with which you can see the town. I thought it was a good idea.

Then we went to a building complex. It consists of several unique buildings. We enjoyed seeing each building and after having coffee at Starbucks on the 1st floor, we walked around the inside of the buildings.

There was a deck part on the 5th floor. We went to the deck, and took several pictures of the castle from there.

Then we walked back to the Kokura Station, picking up our bags, and went to Shimonoseki Station.

We arrived at Shimonoseki Port before 6 p.m. We had to pay “using port facility fee” of 600 yen, and extra fuel fee of 800 yen.

While making line to get aboard on the ferry boat, we got to know a Vietnam American youth. His name is San. He spent a week in Japan already. He said that he would travel for 10 days in Korea, then he would go to China for a month. Then he would visit Vietnam and Thiland and then would go to Australia to work there.

How dynamic his travel plan is! It is a good idea to see the world while he is young. We wished him a good luck.

It was much comfortable in the BuKan Ferry than the previous night ferry from Matsuyama to Kokura. It was cooler and comportable. Thus we returned to Korea comfortably.

四国・九州旅行第6日目　2010年9月2２日(水)曇り、一時小雨

日程：小倉→博多→二日市→大宰府～国立九州博物館～大宰府→二日市→小倉→下関→フェリーで釜山へ

朝4時に船室の電気がついた。5時前に下船。通関がないから実に簡単。小倉の港からJR小倉駅までは徒歩15分ほど。モノレール駅入り口わきの大型コインロッカーに荷物を預け、緑の窓口で博多までの4枚切符を購入した。一人分は2400円。

小倉から博多まで特急で。博多で鈍行に乗り換えて二日市へ。JR二日市から西鉄二日市まではバス1区間。西鉄二日市から太宰府駅まで2駅。

まだシャッターの下りた土産物屋どおりを大宰府へ。池の鯉に100円の餌を与えたのち、本殿へ。本殿では、中で働く人々約30人くらいが集まり、神主の祝詞とお祓いを受け、短いペップトーク？をしている珍しい風景を目撃した。

その後、大宰府に隣接した石庭のある寺を軽く訪問し、駅前に戻り、コンビニで朝食を購入し、駅前のベンチで食べた。

改めて九州国立博物館へ行くと9時40分(会館は9時半)で、簡単な手荷物も預けて身軽になって見学した。今回は特別な催しもないので料金は450円。

４Fの入り口でベルナルドは英語の説明受信機を借り、１つ１つ丁寧に見学。とても付き合いきれない。私も今回はじっくり見学し、楽しもうとしたが、前夜の寝不足もあり、疲れた。

10時半からの伊能忠敬の地図の制度の高さを説明するハイビジョンシアターでは半分以上寝てしまったようだ。

しかし、疲れを知らないベルナルドの熱意には敬服する。約2時間見学して博物館を出ると少し雨が降り出した。

この後の天気が心配になったが、ともかく駅に戻った。西鉄の二日市駅からJRの二日市までは今回は歩いた。すると途中に白い彼岸花が咲いていた。

JR二日市からちょうどよい特急が来たため、特急で博多へ。博多から小倉までも特急で戻ったため、小倉には1時45分に到着。

小ぶりの雨の中を小倉城へ向かった。途中、吉野家で500円の定食セットを食べたがベルナルドは肉の量が少なくて不満のようだった。

小倉城は内部がアミューズメント用で彼は不満だったようだが、この規模の城では内部を以前のように復活させることに大して意味はない。わたしはからくりシアターの映画を楽しんだ。

また、１Fの当時の模様を細かい人形で表現し、望遠鏡でみさせるのはよいアイディアだと思う。

小雨の中をお堀の前の大きな総合ビルに入った。1Fのスターバックスでベルナルドにコーヒーをごちそうになった後、ビル内を見学した。

ビル5階のテラスからの城のながめがとてもよかった。また２Fのスポーツ用品売り場もウィンドーショッピングには最適。登山靴入れを600円で購入した。その後小倉駅に戻り、荷物を出してから、下関に向かった。

4時49分発の門司行きにちょっとした手違いで逃した後、同じプラットホームの次の電車が5時32分となっていてがっかりした。待っている間に荷物の整理などしていると駅の放送で下関行きは別のプラットっホームからあることがわかり、慌てて隣のプラットホームへ行き5時4分の下関行きに乗った。

下関には5時22分ごろ到着。駅内のキオスクでひよこ大18個入りを2400円で、7個入りを800円で購入した。これは教会と俊赫向け。下関港には5時45分に着いた。

港の設備使用料600円と燃料料800円のことはすっかり忘れていた。ベルナルドは円の現金がなく、またカードも使用できずに私が円で払ってベルが19000ウォンを私に払った。

乗船待機中に我々の後ろに並んだベトナム系3世のサングと話をして打ち解けた。彼は日本1週間を皮切りに、韓国10日間、中国1か月、ベトナムやタイを回ったのちにオーストラリアで働く予定だという。ずいぶんダイナミックな計画だ。

船の部屋は往路と同じ112号室。部屋の混み具合も７～８名と往路と同じだ。しかし私の隣のおっさんのいびきがうるさいこと。たまらない。船室の温度はランニングシャツでは寒いほどで、初めて長袖のシャツを着た。前夜にくらべればずっと快適に寝ることができた。
