131226 Year-End Party with Students at Shinseongdong Barbecue Restaurant (大徳大学生との忘年会)

Date & Time: Dec. 26, 18:00 –

Place: A barbecue restaurant in Shinseongdong

Participants: 10 Daedeok　College students

Jisu, one of my best students at Daedeok College, gave me an e-mail message, expressing his gratitude to me, and his intention to visit me in Shinseongdong after the final exam.

So, I proposed to have Year-End Party, inviting some of best students from my last class of Daedeok College.

I invited 8 sophomores including Jisu, but of of the students called another student who lives in Shinseongdong.

I also brought Japanese reference books that might be helpful for their future Japanese study to give.

Most of male students in Korea take 2 year or longer leaves when they finish their first year at college, and go to military services. But some of them, in stead of 20 months military services, they stay at home, and do social works for 3 or 4 years.

Daeho, actually the best students in my 7 year career at Daedeok College, took this course, and he is working as a social worker in Okcheon. I invited him, too.

So, all together, there were 10 guests, I invited, and we had the year-end party in Shinseongdong.

I found out that Wonyong, never seemed a good learner of Japanese, had an ambition of being employed a Japanese corporation named “Bandai” because he loves playing and even making computer games.

I told him that it was not enough to have an ambition, but at the same time, great efforts to achieve his dream.

Students at their age, could drink and reat a lot, and the payment went high at the end of the party, but it must be my last chance to enjoy this kind of party in Korea.

I sincerely hope their success in the future, and to keep good relationship with them in the future, too.

私が今学期教えた大徳大学2年生約30人のうち、最も優秀な学生の1人であるチスが、期末試験後、私に会いたいとメールをくれた。

それなら他の優秀な学生も含めて忘年会をしようと、彼の学友7人も呼んだ。

更に、彼らの同期生で特に優秀だった学生で、現在軍隊で服務する代わりに社会奉仕をしている学生、「テホ」も呼んだ。

また、私が呼んだ学生のうちで、親分格の「テオ」が、日本語はろくにできないが、日本企業の「バンダイ」を目指している「ウォンヨン」も勝手に呼んだ。

かくして学生10名と私で新城洞の焼肉店で忘年会をすることになった。

ついでに不要になった日本語関連テキストなども彼らで分けてもらった。

レストランでは、注文は学生たちに任せて飲み物はビールと焼酎にした。

学生たちは食欲も盛んで酒も良く飲む。

ビールと焼酎をまぜたソメクをがんがんやったし、肉も2，3回追加注文した。

2度目に追加したころ、沃川で働いているキム・テホが到着した。

彼はじつに表情がいいが、ワイシャツのボタンがはち切れそうなのは体に肉が付きやすい体質なのかもしれない。

以前、ヒョヌがコーヒーの機械に関する資料の翻訳をしているのみ見たがスンソンも翻訳で稼ぎたいようだ。

2007年生でインターンの時、東京渋谷の翻訳会社で働いた経験のあるチョン・ソクテに情報を聞いてやると約束した。

2時間以上の忘年会の支払いは30万ウォンになったから、一人当たり3万ウォンも飲み食いしたわけだ。

最後の豪遊と思えばいいか。テオとウォンヨンが私をワンルームまで送ってくれた。
