110514 BaRaeBong, Mt. Jiri (智異山パレ峰1167m)

The destination was BaRaeBong (1,167m) in Mt. Jiri. They named the mountain “BaRaeBong” because its shape looked like upside-down“Bariddae”which is a wooden bowl used by monks. It did looked like an upside-down bowl from a distance.

The number of the participants were 37 according to the list of the participants on the AhToSan website. I also found out that this hike would be Chongjeong’s 196 hike. So 4 more hikes would make her 200th hike.

We arrived at Jeongryongchi at 10:15. The altitude of Jeongryongchi is 1172 m. So the difference of altitudes between the starting point and the highest (GoRiBong 1305m) peak is only 133 meters. We just went up and down along the trails on gentle ridges.

Since I had a cold that day, it was good news for me that the hike was not hard.

We could see other peaks well when we climbed the first peak, GoRiBong. But there were lots of hikers from the beginning to the end this time.

There were many different flowers such as “Eolleji얼레지” in Korean. Japanese name of Eolleji is Katakuri and scientific name is Erythronium japonicum. This plants were found only in China, Korea and Japapn so there seem to be no English name at all.

I also found “Guseulbongi구슬붕이” which Japanese name is “Kokerindou.” Its scientific name in English is “Gentiana squarrosa.” It is a cute flower of “Gentiana” family.

There are many wild flowers besides “Eolleji” and “Guseulbongi.” There were diffierent kinds of “violets” as well as “Potentilla fragarioides” (“Yangjikko양지꽃” in Korean and “Kijimusiro” in Japanese.)

About one hour since we began walking, we had a short break called “Suzuki Time” when I provide several packs of fruits (this time, blue red grapes and Chinese oranges and cherry tomatoes.)

When we arrived at SeGeolSan, we had lunch time. I had my lunch with Bernardo, Chomwa and Ttowa, Chongjeong and Heesun.

After the lunch, we continued the easy hike along the gentle ridge. I mostly walked with Bernardo and Heesun. Heesun tended to be late, but Bernardo encouraged her well.

As we approached to BaRaeBong, we saw banch of azaleas in full bloom. They were just beautiful.

The community of azaleas were peak around BaRaeBong, so were the number of hikers. It brew strongly around the top of the mountain though.

The download from BaRaeBong was just monotonous. "GaRyenBong" suggested that we should take a short-cut in the woods. I liked this short-cut trail.

When we arrived at the final destination, Yongsan Villege, there were a lot of small-tent shops where local people sold local products and foods. It was just like a festival.

I happened to see “Kaizer” the 2nd president of AhToSan who served as the president of AhToSan in the year of 2005-2006.

It was just like a world of fairy stories. I saw dolls of “Snow White and 7 dwarfs.” There was a beautiful windmill hut and plenty of beautiful flowers.

We had makgeolli and dotorimuk (도토리묵acorn-starch jelly paste) for wrap-up party. On the way down, I came first and left Bernardo and Heesun behind. Since they did not come down for a while, I just became uneasy, so I went back to the trail to the entrance of the villege, but they did not appear. When I gave up waiting for them, and returned to the party place, I found them enjoying the party. It seemed that they came down from the different trail.

We finished the party at 5:30 and came back to Expo South Gage at 8:30 p.m.

It was my 29th hike for this year and 239th for joining AhToSan regular hike.

登山地は智異山のパレ峰[바래봉(1,167m)]その名の由来は韓国語の바리때(パリテ)からで、パリテとは寺の僧が使う木製の椀をひっくり返した形に似ているからだという。確かに頂上付近には立木がまったくなく、椀を伏せたような形だった。

今回の参加者はウェブで公表され私を含めて37名。2011年の最多参加者はアランドロンとチョンダウンの16回。次がサンサランと私の14回であることがわかった。また、チョンジョンがあと４回で200回の大台に乗ることも分かった。

10:15にバスを降りたチョンリョンチ(정령치)休憩所(SA)はすでに標高1172mで非常に風が強かった。このサービスエリアからは智異山の主峰の峰々がよく見える。今回の山行の最高峰は最初の峰であるコリ峰で1305mだから、標高差わずか133mの登りで、後はなだらかな尾根を登ったり降りたりの連続だった。

この日、自分は風邪のため体調が悪かったので、山行がこのようななだらかなコースだったことは幸いだった。

最初の峰のコリ峰に登るとまわりの峰々がよく見えた。ただし、他の山岳会も多くこのコースを選択したようで、最初から最後までハイカーの人波が続いた。



コリ峰を過ぎたあたりから、カタクリ(オルレジ)の群落が目につく。遅咲きのチンダルレが残る中、今回おめあてのサンチョルチュクはまだつぼみが多かった。

カタクリの花にまじって小さなコケリンドウ(Gentiana squarrosa Ledeb. var. squarrosa)もちらほらと目についた。

この花の韓国名「クスルポンイ(구슬붕이)」はテンピがウェブのティックルで教えてくれた。ウェブで調べると日本では愛知県の絶滅危惧Ⅱ種に指定されているそうだ。

また、智異山は野生花が多く 、白いスミレや大型の薄紫のスミレ、小型のキジムシロの小さな黄色い花も目についた。

歩き始めて約1時間ほど、林の中でスズキタイム。今回は4種類のフルーツ(青ブドウと赤ブドウとキンカンとプチトマト)を用意した。

12時半すぎ、おそらく世傑山を過ぎたあたりのやや開けた窪地で昼食。いっしょに食べたのはナムクン夫婦やチョンジョン、それにベルナルド。ベルナルドのワインはうまいが1杯だけにしておいた。

昼食後、なだらかな尾根伝いの山行を続けた。午後の山行ではベルナルドおよびヒソンといっしょに歩いた。ヒソンがどうしても遅れ気味になるが、ベルナルドがよくサポートした。




ブウンチからパルランチ付近にいたる尾根伝いはつぼみのチョルチュクに混じって咲き始めたチョルチュクも多い。

パレ峰の前の群落が最高で、木道が整備されている。パレ峰は強風の中、簡単な木製の標識があるだけだが、なにせハイカーが多い。写真を撮るのも容易ではなかった。



パレ峰からの下りは林道にでると単調な下りだが、その両脇の丘にも道があり、佳蓮峰と若い男が丘に登って写真を撮っていた。我々も呼ばれて登ってみた。



途中から林道を外れて閉鎖された登山路を一気に下った。するとかなりの近道になったようで途中、サンサランらを追い越した。

ウンチ庵から下った龍山マウル駐車場に至る道は両側にテントの店が出てお祭り気分。ここで、アトサン2代目(2005年12月～2006年12月)のカイザー会長に出会った。カイザー会長を知っているチョンジョンやアランドロンがいっしょに記念写真に納まった。

特に駐車場近くは白い花で埋め尽くされ、白雪姫と七人の小人の人形や風車がメルヘンチックな雰囲気を醸し出していた。

ティップリはマッコリとトトリムック。かなり飲んで食べてもベルナルドとヒソンが下りてこないので心配になり、戻ってみたが二人を見つけられず、ティップリの場に戻ると二人はすでにいた。どうも彼らは遠回りしたようだ。

ティップリは5時半ごろ切り上げ、帰路に着いた。南門には8時過ぎに到着。ワンルームには9時前に戻った。

晩春の華やかさを味わった山行だった。

今年29回目の登山で、アトサンの定期山行は239回目。
