I went to Oze with Mr. Mano again, just like last year. But this time, we took a course from Ohshimizu, and stayed at Miharashi for a night, and took a bus from Hatomachi Pass to return.
I saw Mr. Mano at YCAT in the evening of July 7. We went to Ikebukuro from Yokohama just like last year. Mr. Mano paid 2000 yen more for two seats while I took only one seat. We arrived at Ohshimizu at 4:55 a.m. on July 8.
When we arrived at Ohshimizu, it was raining a little bit. While we were walking toward Ichinose Point, it cleared up.

Last time when I walked this course, it was about 30 years ago. I was hiking with one of my highschool day friend, Watanabe. I could walk through Ichinose and came to Sampei Pass rather easily. It took about 2 hours from Ohshimizu to Sampei Pass.

From Sampei Pass, the trail became wooden paths. As we walked through the swamp area, a lot of small insets began attacking my feet. They were gnats which bit my skin. I regreted that I did not wear spats that day.

We arrived at Chozo Lodge at 7:50. Kikko and I stayed at this lodge during our honeymoon in 1970. This time Mt. Mano and I just passed this lodge and headed for Choei Shindo trail.

Choei Shindo trail was not steep, but muddy. There were many insets such as black flies, and gnats. We had lunch near the top of the mountain; Manaitagura. There was a mass of snow there.

When we arrived at Manaitagura, it was almost 1 p.m. There were several people at the peak. We talked 4 or 5 young men. It seemed that they were having lunch there.

Mt. Hiuchigatake has twin peaks. One is Manaitagura and the other is Shibayasugura. When I climbed in June, 2008, there was much snow in the mountain, and I slipped at the steep slope. There was snow at the same slope this time, too. Yet amount of snow was much little than that time. Therefore, no difficulty to climb the mountain this time.

There were a few hikers in the trail. On the way down to Miharashi, we met only two hikers; a mother and a daughter. We walked together for about 30 minutes. Then we came to Miharashi before 4 p.m.
Mr. Mano and I registered the lodge separately. He stayed at Hinoemata Lodge, while I stayed at Ozegoya Lodge. After checking in separately, we took bath, and had beer on the telace of Ozegoya Lidge.

I could use a twin room alone. It was quite comfortable.
This was my 39th hike for this year.

7月7日(木)夜行バスで尾瀬へ向かう。20時にYCATで真野さんに合流。池袋には10時半ごろ到着。11時には池袋を出発して戸倉経由大清水に向かった。真野さんは2000円追加して二人分シートを確保。私はそれをしなかったので他人が隣にすわり、いつもの通り浅い眠りのまま尾瀬へ。
7月8日(金)雨後晴れ。戸倉へ4時に到着。30分ほど車内待機後、鳩待ち峠組(18人×2)が下りた後、大清水へ5時5分前到着。8人が下りた。降りるときに予め注文をしておいた弁当を受け取った。

真野さんが準備に手間取り、5時10分ごろ出発。途中、女性3人組と話をしたが、ペースが合わず、先を歩いた。
大清水から一ノ瀬までは林道で、途中、乗用車が3台止めてあった。一ノ瀬から三平峠まではいちおう山道で、谷川沿いの快適なトレッキング。思ったよりもなだらかな勾配で1時間ほど進むと樹林の中の木道に出て、三平峠の看板があった。

このコースはおそらく20代の初期に高校の同級生(渡辺)を案内して登った時以来だと思う。三平峠を過ぎてからは樹林の中の木道を左手に尾瀬沼を見ながら進む。
すでに湿原地帯に入り、多くの花々が目につく。しかし、同時にぶよの大群が私の毛糸の靴下に飛び込んで私の両足に噛みつく。これが痛い。手で毛糸の上からはたいても、もぐりこんだぶよは除くことができない。真野さんは長ズボンの上にスパッツをしているのでまったく被害はない。次回からは長ズボンとスパッツは必需品だ。

長蔵小屋には7時50分に到着したが、ここから長英新道に入る分岐点が分からず、沼山峠方面へかなり進んでから引き返し、正規の分岐点に到達したのは8時40分だった。
長英新道は勾配が緩やかだが水はけがわるく、泥道が続いた。途中、真野さんが用意したきれいに剝いたリンゴとキウイの果物を食べたが、少しでも立ち止まると虫たちが襲ってくる。途中で長ズボンに履き替えてからはだいぶ虫の攻撃をさえぎることができるようになった。
長英新道の上りが本格化するにつれ真野さんが遅れ気味になった。展望が開ける尾根に出た時は20分程度差がついた。ここは4年前の6月、逆コースで降りてきた場所で、ケルンがあり、天然のベンチがあり、尾瀬沼も見える良い地点だったが、虫が大量にいてとても食事ができる雰囲気ではなかった。

結局、ケルンから俎嵓に向かってさらに進んだ展望の良い雪渓のわきで昼食にした。喜久子が作ったポテトサラダと食パンを分け合って食べたが真野さんは食欲がなく、私が食パンもサラダも3分の2ほど食べた。

そしていよいよ燧ケ岳登頂。まず俎嵓(2346m)に登り、男4人のパーティと少し話をして、写真もとってもらったりした。次に俎嵓を下り、柴安嵓に登った。

四年前にアイゼンとスティックを使いながらも滑落した部分には今も雪が残っていた。柴安嵓にはたぶんわれらと同年配のアロンハイカーがいて写真撮影を頼まれた。我々もこれ幸いに撮影を頼み、良い写真が撮れた。
ここからの下りは、4年前苦労して登ったコースで、途中、母と娘のパーティに追いつきしばらく話をした。彼女らは長蔵小屋を朝出て、今夕は竜宮に泊まり、明日は至仏に登ると言う。母親がたぶん我々と同年配で、足元がふらついていた。真野さんもかなり足に来ていたようで、この親子連れよりはややましだが、かなりペースが遅くなり、見晴らしに着いたのは午後4時だったから、9時間コースを11時間で歩いたことになる。
真野さんが予約した小屋は桧枝岐小屋で、私が予約した尾瀬小屋のすぐ前だった。それぞれチェックインを済ませて風呂に入ってから尾瀬小屋のテラスでビールを飲んだ。

食事は5時半からで、隣に座った男3人組と盛り上がったようだが、あまり記憶に残っていない。部屋は二人用の相部屋の一人使用で、快適。コインロッカーを使ったが便利だ。夕食後は直ちに寝たから、およそ10時間寝たことになる。
今回は今年39回目の登山。
