130209 The 4th day of US trip from Oak Ridge (TN) to Webster (NY)

Travel Date: Feb. 9 (Sat) Fine

Itinerary: Oak Ridge – Knoxiville – Detroit – Rochester – Webster (NY)

Partner: None

When I checked Web News, it had been blizzard in New York and Massachusetts and tens of hundreds flights were cancelled.

I really worried about my flights from Knoxiville to Detroit and then to Rochester. Alan checked these flights on websites and told me that they were on schedule. So, I felt relieved.

My flight to Detroit was at 12:55. So, I had a half-day free. Alan had an appointment that day with local volunteers to pick up his unnecessary furniture in his garage at 10 am. So, I just walked around his house.

There are many big trees in his backyard. His house is in the residential area where a bit away from the main road. Therefore, it is quitet and I could hear birds were chirming.

I also noticed that there were many interesting gifts he got from his Korean and Japanese friends in his house. I took pictures of some of them. The most interesting thing was his doll given by his Korean caving friends, I thought.

The volunteers’ vehicle came at around 10:30. It was just a good time. We left home at around 11 am. Alan drove his car to scenic areas for me and I could enjoy seeing beautiful scenes around Oak Ridge and Knoxiville.

We arrived at the airport at 11:35. I had enough time to see the airport after checking in. I noticed the name of giftshop as Smoky Mountain Travel Mart. If I had another chance to visit, maybe that is the mountain I would like to climb with Alan.

I got the very first seat 1A for the flight. Actually it was a bit inconvenient since there was no space for the front seat. But I could see outside from the window. The grounds were mostly covered with snow.

I arrived at Detroit at 2:40 pm and next flight was at 5:26. I had enough time to sip glasses of beer at an Irish Pub at the airport.

I noticed that there were 9 screens on which 20 flight-schedules were on at the airport. Wow, that means there were 180 flights to 180 destinations! What a big airport Detroit is!

The next flight was also on schedule and I arrived at Rochester Airport at 6:40 pm, a bit earlier than schedule.

Mr. & Mrs. Rupp were waiting for me at the exit. When I saw them last time was more than 10 years ago.

Their house is in Webster, about 30 minutes from the airport. The whole area was covered by snow. It was just beautiful.

When we arrived at their home, Mrs. Rupp offered me dinner. Actually I had snacks on the board, and had less appitite. Then she gave me “umeboshi”

I appreciated her offer and had white rice and “umeboshi” and some vegitable for dinner.

After having dinner, Mr. Rupp showed me a very interesting video named “God’s Fingerfrints in Japan.”
http://godsfingerprintsinjapan.com/

Let me quote its inctroduction written in the above website.

God’s Fingerprints in Japan is an internationally award winning documentary that reveals startling evidence and asks important questions about Japan and Christianity. Is there evidence of the Creator God in Japanese history and culture? Is there a connection between the Tea Ceremony and Communion? Is it contradictory to be Japanese and a follower of Jesus? Find out in this groundbreaking documentary.

One of the most progressive and thought provoking videos in years, this program has created a huge debate within the Christian community. Many people and ministries in and outside of Japan have begun to use this documentary to show the Japanese people that God has never left them or forsaken them. For many people, this video stirs up something deep within them that liberates them and releases them to know Christ in a much more intimate way.[Unquote]

Thus ended my 4th day of US trip at a bedroom they gave that night.

[Alan saw me off at the airport,

[Good bye Tennessee,

[Hello, Michigan,

[Mrs. Rupp gave me "Umeboshi" ^^,
