SNCC News 13-25 (2013/8/18)

Dear SNCC News Readers,

Eleven members of SNCC visited Tagajo(多賀城), Miyagi-ken(宮城県) from Aug. 17 to Aug. 19 (Sat. through Monday) and joined the mission work by Mr. & Mrs. Barkman.

The total number of the dead and missing people of 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami was 18,539. Among them, Miyagi-ken counts 10,836, over 58% of the whole.

Over 300,000 people lost their houses, and many of them are living in temporary houses.

Mr. & Mrs. Barkman who served the Pastor of SNCC for about a decade in 1990s, now working for giving Christian hopes among people, esp. in temporary houses in Tagajo-shi, Miyagi-ken.

So, 11 members of SNCC, apart from the regular Sunday service in Kamakura, visited Tagajo, about 350 – 400 km north from Kamakura.

They visited temporary housing and provided “takidashi (food kitchen)” of “yakisoba” service and sang hymns and　nursery rhymes and a reconstruction support song with playing the ukulele.

They attended the morning service at Shiogama Baptist Church, together with Mr. & Mrs. Barkman on August 18.

Beside the above mentioned activities, SNCC held a regular activity in Ofuna (Kamakura-shi) as below on Aug. 18, 2013.



Pastor Eiji　Kuri (久利英二師) of Japan Bible Seminary (聖書宣教会教師) visited SNCC as the messenger on Aug. 18, 2013. (He is also the associated Pastor of Tsurukawa Fukuin Kyokai(鶴川福音教会).

Japan Bible Seminary (Japanese:聖書宣教会、JBS) is an evangelical Christian seminary located in Hamura, Tokyo.

They held Church School classes after the service.

They also had a group prayer meeting (GⅢ).

3. Prayer requests.

3-1 For a quest of new pastor for SNCC from April 2013. Pastor Yamanaka is now working as a researcher at “Shinnihon Seisho Kankoukai新日本聖書刊行会.” Therefore, SNCC members are praying God to send his successor. Please join our prayers for this quest.

3-2. For the seekers among people who come to SNCC regularly. Some of these people wish to have baptism and preparing for it. Also for the family members of SNCC members who have not accepted Jesus as their savior.

3-3 For those who are in difficult situations physically as well as spiritually including members of SNCC and their families, such as Ms. Fumiko Majima who is recuperations after heart surgery, Ms. Saori Nakanishi who is to have a baby in August, Ms. Yuko Ohga and her mother (Ms. Fumie Ohga being 81, hospitalized), and Ms. Toshiko Takeoka (94) who has been hospitalized in Kichijoji since last May.

親愛なるSNCC News の読者の皆様、

湘南のぞみキリスト教会(SNCC)から8月17日から19日まで11人のメンバーが宮城県多賀城を訪れ、バークマン先生ご夫妻の「東日本大震災の被災者の魂の救済活動」に参加いたしました。

2011年（平成23年）3月11日（金）に発生した東北地方太平洋沖地震とそれに伴って発生した津波、及びその後の余震により引き起こされた大規模地震災害による死者・行方不明者数は18,539人であり、そのうち宮城県内の該当者数は10,836人に達し、全体の58%を占めています。

30万人を超える人々がこの災害で住居を失い、いまだ多くの方々が仮設住宅で生活されている現実です。

バークマン先生ご夫妻は、1990年代に湘南のぞみキリスト教会の担任牧師であられ、現在は主に宮城県多賀城市の仮設住宅にお住いの被災者にキリストによる希望を伝えるべく支援活動を行っています。

そしてこの夏、SNCCの11人のメンバーは鎌倉市大船における通常礼拝とは別に、約350kmから400km離れた多賀城市を訪れました。

バーマン先生ご夫妻とSNCCのメンバーは仮設住宅を訪れ、焼きそばの炊き出しを行い、よく親しまれている讃美歌や童謡および「震災復興支援ソング」などをウクレレ演奏と共に歌いました。

演奏曲目は以下の通りです。

18日の日曜日は、彼らはバークマン先生ご夫妻と共に塩釜バプテスト教会の礼拝に出席しました。

上記活動の他、8月18日、鎌倉市大船の湘南のぞみ教会では下記の礼拝活動を行いました。



メッセージを取り次いでくださったのは、聖書宣教会教師の久利英二師です。久利先生は鶴川福音教会の協力牧師でもあります。

聖書宣教会は東京都羽村市にある超教派の牧師、伝道者の養成学校です。

礼拝後、クラス別聖書研究会が持たれました。

また、グループ別の祈祷会は今週は第三週のグループがグループ祈り会を持ちました。
