Two of my Korean students came to Osaka on Jan. 3rd. After sightseeing in Kansai area, they came to Tokyo by night-bus on Jan. 8. They came to Ofuna station at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 9. I saw then at the ticket gate of the station.
First, I took them to my church near the station. They used to go to church in Korea so they could sing hymns in Japanese naturally.
[In front of the church, 教会の前で、교회 앞에서]When the service was over at 11 a.m., Prof. M came to pick us up in front of the church.
We had one problem. The size of my students was too big for his Volvo. Hyong-wu who sat in the front-seat, could not straight up his head because the roof was too short for him.
Anyhow, we headed for Enoshima first, for lunch. Since I belong to an NGO which supports Neparl young kids, and they were to hold a meeting near Enoshima, we were trying to join them.
We found out that the reservation of the restant was short of numbers. As a result, they had lunch at “Enoshima goya” with my Korean students, and I had lunch at Saizeriya nearby.
After lunch, they joined us at Saizeriya, and after paying my annual fee to the NGO, we began sightseeing in Kamakura by using public transportation called “Enoden” and on foot.

[In front of Hase Temple,長谷寺の前で、하세데라 앞에서]I like Hase Temple not because of the famous statue (Hase Kannon), but its beauty of the garden and newly developed backyard trails.

It’s a bit narrow for my students, but they seemed that they enjoyed their experience of walking through the narrow tunnels with old sculptures.
[At the exit of the tunnel, トンネルの出口にて、터널 출구에서]The famous Daibutsu or the Great Buddha, is the must for Kamakura sightseeing. The Great Buddha is located at Kotoku-in Temple, but there’s not much things to see besides the Great Buddha there.
[In front of the Great Buddha, 大仏の前で、대불 앞에서]We visited only Hase Temple and Kotoku-in Temple in Kamakura and hurried to Hakone, the next sightseeing spot for my students.
Prof. M has a membership of certain resort hotels. He kindly reserved a room for us at Gora, in Hakone that night.

韓国から大徳大1年生2名、キム・ソングンとキム・ヒョンウが冬休みを利用して来日。彼らは1月3日に大阪着。関西を見学後、夜間バスで上京、8日に東京で投宿。この日、朝9時半に大船駅で待ち合わせした。
彼らは時間通り9時半に西口改札口に現れ、湘南のぞみ教会へ案内した。彼らは高校時代、教会に通っていたということで日本語の讃美歌も違和感なく歌ってくれた。
11時礼拝が終わり、M教授を待った。M教授は愛息とともに11:22、愛車ボルボで教会前に現れた。そこから車でまず江の島へ向かったが、誤算があった。それかキム君たちのサイズだ。二人とも18５を超える大男で、M教授のボルボでは小さすぎたことだ。助手席に座ったヒョウンウは車内で首を曲げなければならなかったのは気の毒だった。
まず江の島へ向かった理由は、私が所属するネパールの孤児を支援するNGOの会合がそこであったためだ。彼らと昼食を共にするはずだったが、レストラン「江の島小屋」の予約が6人で、我々が9人だったため、M教授と愛息と私は別のレストラン「サイゼリア」で昼食にした。
[At Saizeriya after lunch, サイゼリアにてOECCD(NGO)の人々と、사이제리아에서 OECCD(NGO)의 사람들과]サイゼリアは江の島の対岸に位置し、価格も低廉はイタリアン・ファミレスだった。結局「江の島小屋」で昼食をすませた6人はサイゼリアで合流。私はNGOの年会費のみ支払い、キム君たちのため鎌倉案内に出発した。
この日、江の島・鎌倉は休日のためたいへんな人出。道路もひどい混雑だったので、江ノ電と徒歩で観光することにした。
まず、江ノ電で長谷に向かい、長谷寺と大仏の観光をした。私は個人的には大仏より長谷寺が好きだ。長谷寺で有名な長谷観音は撮影禁止で一度拝顔すれば終わりだが、観音堂の裏山が最近整備され、鎌倉とその海岸を一望にできる簡単な散策路になっている。
[In front of Hase Temple,長谷寺の前で、하세데라 앞에서]また、昔からある洞窟も面白く、この壁面に彫られた昔のファッションのレリーフが面白い。また、ここの庭園の美しさは絶品である。
大仏はそれ以外に見るものもないが、鎌倉観光に欠かすことのできない撮影スポットであることはまちがいない。
今回は午後からの半日コースということもあり、鎌倉観光は長谷周辺のみにして切り上げ、次の観光地、箱根に向かって出発した。
