110124 Sightseeing (drive) in Izu Peninsula

Date: Jan. 23 (Sun)-24(Mon)[1 stay 2 days drive to Izu Peninsula (Fine)

Course: 1/23: Ofuna to Ito (Wellness no Mori)
1/24 Ito – Kawazu – Tsumekizaki – Mt. Ohmuro – Saizeria (Enoshima) – Ofuna

Partners: Kikko (Driver), Mr. Matsumoto, Mr. Fujiwara

[Prologue]

Kikko and I originally planned to go to a bus tour to Zao in Yamagata Prefecture. We expected to see the famous “Juhyou” or “soft rime” in Zao, but it was cancelled due to the short of applicants.

So, we changed our destination, and decided to go sightseeing in Izu Peninsula.

Since Kikko had coupons for “Wellness no Mori” hotel for four people, we asked two of our friends; Mr. Matsumoto & Mr. Fujiwara to join us.

We headed for Ito after the church service at SNCC in Ofuna. (They picked me up after the servie.)

First, we headed for Shonan Beach. But it was the day for Shonan Marathon. The high way along the beach was restricted that day.

We had to change our route via Isehara to Ito. We bought lunch box at a convenient store and hurried to Ito.

We arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m. Ito is a famous spa resort, so we enjoyed the spa at the hotel, and had a little party with beer at the suite. I enjoyed watiching Sumo on TV at the room.

["At a room at Wellness no Mori"「

We had a gorgeous dinner at 7:30 p.m. We could pay 2000 yen extra and to have a service of “nomihodai” or “drink as much as you like,” but since we already had beer at our room, we just simply ordered two bottles of “Kirin beer.”

[Dinner at Wellness no Mori,

Luckily, a waitress brought wrong beer, Asahi and we drank without confirming the label. When I reminded a small mistake to the waitress, she brought two more beer of “Kirin” for free! How lucky we were!

After the dinner, we went back to our suite. Then Kikko and Mr. Matsumoto opened a bottle of wine! They gave toast, but Kikko did not finish it and went to sleep.

I enjoyed watiching an interesting TV drama “Sokyuno Subaru” or “The Pleiades in a blue sky” which was produced by the collaboration of Japanese and Chinese movie companies.

It was the story of Chinese brothers during the last period of Qing Dynasty. The TV drama was based on the novel written by Asada Jiro, a Japanese novelist, and one of the main characters, Empress Dowager Cixi was played by a Japanese actress, Tanaka Yuko, one of my favorite actresses.

[Sightseeing Tour to Izu Peninsula]

Date: Jan. 24, 2011 (Mon) Fine occasionally cloudy.

We all enjoyed spa in the morning. They exchange the spa wetween men’s and women’s. The spa for men that day was better than the previous day. I especially liked the open-air spa called “Tenku Spa” which was much more space than the spa on the previous day.

[The spa is on the roof of the building,

The breakfast was also gorgeous and delicious. It was buffei style breakfast, and the fee for the stay was 8500 yen per person (including two bottles of beer.) We all satisfied.

We checked at at 9 a.m. and first we headed for Kawazu. Kawazu is famous for early “cherry blossom” in Feburary. We found a cherry tree which was in full bloom in the garden of a local spa.

After seeing the cherry blossoms, we headed for Tsumekizaki peninsula, where millions of Japanese narcissus were in full bloom.

[Aloe flowers, アロエの花々、알로에 꽃들][The entrance of Tsumekizaki, 爪木崎入口、쓰마기자끼 입구]

We saw a lighthouse on the hill and three men walked to the lighthouse while Kikko enjoyed shopping of sea-products near the seashore.

After seeing the lighthouse we visited “greenhouse” which was surrounded by rape blossoms.

On the way back to Ofuna, we stopped at a small restaurant by the seashore. We enjoyed “set dish of sea food” at the restaurant. It costed 1600 yen, but it worth paying that much.

After having lunch we stopped at a small volcano called “Mt. Ohmuro”which was designated as a “National Treasure.”

[At the top of Mt. Ohmuro,

The altitude of the volcano is 580m. It erupted about 4000 years ago. We could go to the top of the mountain by lift, and three of us walked around the crater (about 1 km.)

There was a shrine in the middle of the crater (about 70 m deep) and there was an archery facility at the bottom of the crater. (I felt strange that they build artificial facility at the National Treasure.)

After Mt. Ohmuro, we had a light supper at Saizeria near Enoshima. Then, Mr. Fujiwara got off at Kitakamakura, and Mr. Matsumoto and I enjoyed the last beer at my house that evening. He took a night bus baound for Kyoto leaving Fujisawa at 10 p.m.

[At a room of "Wellness no Mori" 「

[Just before checkout,チェックアウト直前、체크아웃 직전][This Kawazu Cherry was already in full bloom, この河津桜はすでに満開、이 가와즈사쿠라는 이미 만개]「寒桜明るく匂う河津の湯」黄山

[In front of rape rape blossoms, 菜の花畑の前で、유채꽃밭 앞에서][Strelitzia,ゴクラクチョウカ、극락조화↑]

[At a small restaurant near the seashore,

[At the 3rd triangulation point,
