130830 Visiting Gyeryongsan Natural History Museum[鶏龍山自然史博物館계룡산 자연사 박물관) (Culture Exchange with Chinese Professors)

Chinese professor ZD had been sent to Daejeon for a year about 5 or 6 years ago.

I got to know him at Grace’s International Dinner Party which was used to be held at Grace’s apartment every Friday.

Since he liked hiking, I invited him to AhToSan hiking. He really liked hiking, and attended AhToSan hiking more than ten times.

Those days, a Korean hiker, “Wild Rose” also joined AhToSan hike. She studied Chinese in China, and she is a fluent speaker of Chinese.

“Wild Rose” often invited ZD and me and we went special day trips such as Chuncheon Ice Festival or some spa events.

ZD is a professor at Changchun, Jilin, China. He attended an international conference held in Seoul, with one of his colleagues, SX.

The conference was over on Thursday, so they came to a hotel in Yuseong, Daejeon previous night.

They visited Grace’s apartment on Thursday. And “Wild Rose” invited them and me for lunch (and the dinner) on Friday (Aug. 30).

“Wild Rose” is a public servant for Daejeon City. We met in front of Information Desk at Daejeon Station at noon.

“Wild Rose” took us to a restaurant called “Kim Hwa Restaurant” which specializes “Son Kal kuksu” or Korean style noodle.

“Wild Rose” also invited her friend who went to China to study when they were students.

Since “Wild Rose” is actually using Chinese language on her job, she speaks fluent Chinese that I admire her.

“Kal kuksu” at the restaurant tasted very good and the price was quite reasonable. A bowl of Kal kuksu costs 3000 won (less then 3 dollars).

After having lunch I took two Chinese guests on #107 bus and we headed for Donghaksa to visit Gyeryongsan Natural History Museum.

It took nearly one hour by bus, and we got off near the museum.

We had to walk for about 10 minutes from the bus stop to the museum.

It was a hot day, and they bought bottled water at a convenient store.

The entrance fee for the museum was 8000 won for each. It is considered rather expensive, but it was worth paying if you are interested in natural science.

The museum has 3 floors. They featured dinosaurs on the first floor.

They were having a dinosaur move at a corner on the first floor. We saw the movie for about 20 minutes.

Then we walked to the 2nd floor and saw the exhibitions on “universe, earth, and life” including geological science, and studies about plants and animals.

On the third floor, visitors can learn about human body system, and two sets of Korean mummies dated back to 550 to 600 years ago are being kept in a special room.

I took several pictures on the first floor. Then I noticed a sign prohibiting photographing. It is a shame that I could not take pictures on the 2nd and 3rd floor, after then.

We spent nearly two hours at the museum, and took 107 bus to go back to Daejeon Station.

We met “Wild Rose” in front of Information Desk at Daejeon Station again. She took us to her apartment near Daejeon Interchange.

She took us to a buffet style restaurant for dinner. We enjoyed different kind of food while talking in Chinese, and English.

The location of the restaurant was a bit far from Shinseongdong, where I live.

I excused myself at around 7:30 pm and went back to my studio apartment using a bus, subway and a bus service again. It was almost 9 pm when I got home.

Anyhow, it was”有朋自遠方来 不亦楽乎”「友あり遠方より来る、また楽しからずや。」 “A friend of mine visits me from his distant home; isn't it a happy evening for us all to share?”(English translation from Yohoo知恵袋)

I wish I could visit Prof. ZD at Changchun in Jilin, China in the future.　And it is my dream that I could communicate with him in Chinese then.

中国の長春から５、６年前、いっしょにアトサン山岳会で山に登った大学教授のZDが同僚の教授SXと伴い、ソウルの大学で行われた会議に出席するため韓国へ来た。

会議は木曜日には終わったようで、前日、テジョンへ来て儒城のホテルに泊まっていると言う。

前夜はハンピッアパートのグレイスの家で夕食を食べたそうだ。私がグレイスに呼ばれなかったことは残念だったが、大田市の公務員で中国を担当している「野バラ」とともに昼食の約束をした。

私は11時45分に大田駅のInformation Desk前に到着したが、ZDとSXもすぐに来て、「野バラ」と共にカルククスで有名な「金華食堂」へ行った。

この食堂は手ごろな値段でボリュームもたっぷりでおいしいため、ちょうど昼食の時間でもあり、非常に混雑していたが、1席を確保。「野バラ」の友人で一緒に中国へ語学留学したという友人も同席した。

「野バラ」は現役で中国語を使っているだけあって非常に流暢に中国語を話す。

ZDは「野バラ」に民芸品(ミニチュアのスクリーンで中国の伝統絵画と詩が書いてある）を、私には高級酒「桃南香」を持ってきてくれた。これらの土産物はがざばって大変だったと思うが、ありがたいことだ。

昼食だけの会食のつもりが、客人らと「野バラ」は夕食を「野バラ」の家のそばで食べようということで合意していたようで、私が客人らの午後の案内をまかされるという雰囲気だった。

その準備はしてなかったが、急遽、鶏龍山の「自然史博物館」を訪問することにした。

バスは大田駅まえから107番の東鶴寺行きに乗り、1時間後、鶏龍山自然史博物館の前で下車した。

この博物館は、いつも将軍峰に登るたび、眼下に見える建物で、一度訪問したいと思っていた博物館だ。

私立博物館であり、入場料が高いと聞いていたが、実際、一人8000ウォンで3人分は24,000ウォンは半端ではない。カードが使えてなによりだった。

バス停から博物館へのアクセスは徒歩10分以上で上り坂なのでけっこうたいへんだ。一般の訪問客は車で訪問するのだろう。客人らはコンビニで飲料水を買ったが、これは正解である。

博物館に近づくにつれ、恐竜のモニュメントがいたるところに置いてある。最大のものは入口のすぐそばのもので、実物大ではないかと思われる。

博物館は3層で、１Fは恐竜に特化している。入ってすぐEBSの「韓半島の恐竜」という映画を上映しているコーナーへ行って椅子に座って20分ほど観た。

その後１Fを観覧後、２Fの「宇宙、地球、生命」の展示をみた。地質の研究展示物はすばらしいものがたくさんある。

アメジストを始め本物の宝石が数多くある。動植物の展示もすばらしかった。

３Fは人類史と人体の神秘のようなテーマで、本物のミイラ２体が良い環境で保存・展示されているのにも驚いた。

１Fでは写真を撮ったが、２F、３Fは写真撮影禁止の警告が目について写真を撮れなかったのは残念である。

博物館の見学は約2時間で、バス停に戻ると折よく107番バスが来て、待たずに乗車、ちょうど1時間乗車して5時に大田駅に戻った。

大田駅は秋夕の大型連休を前にしてキップの予約をするでごったがえしていたがここでふたたび「野バラ」と待ち合わせをして、彼女の車で、彼女の家があるソンビアパートへ向かった。

彼女を下で待っていると彼女の母親が下の子を連れてアパートから降りてきたが、挨拶だけで、上の女の子をつれてソンビアパートのレストラン街の食堂へ向かった。

夕食はバイキング式レストランで野バラにごちそうになった。私は夕食まで付き合う予定ではなかったので少々とまどったが、5，6年ぶりの中国、韓国、日本と国籍の異なる友人間の旧交を温める機会ととらえ、７時半ごろまでつきあった。

ここは私の住む新城洞からはかなり遠い場所で、バス、地下鉄、そして再度バスを乗り継ぎ、自分のワンルームへ戻ったのは９時近くになってしまった。

この日は論語の”有朋自遠方来 不亦楽乎”「友あり遠方より来る、また楽しからずや。」のような一日だった。

将来、機会があれば、私も吉林省の長春も訪れてみたい。その時は私も中国語で会話ができるようになっていたいものだ。
