110912 Daejeon National Cemetery in Daejeon (国立大田顕忠院内の散策コース)

Hiking course: Parking Lot – Memorial Trail – Stepping Stone Pond – No. 1 General Cemetary – Memorial Pond – Wild Flower Park – Parking Lot (About 4 km, 3 hours)

Partner: Alan and George Furst (USA), Ai (Indonesia), Tracy (Australia), Ayla and Arong (Korea) and Pipi (Mr. Furst’s dog)

It was Monday, yet it was a part of Chuseok Holidays, so Alan planned a light hiking as a leader of Taejeonhikers.

One of Korean ladies, Ayla proposed to walk along the course in Daejeon National Cemetry at the foot of Mt. Gappasan in Daejeon.

We got together at KAIST Main Gate at 10 a.m. After taking a group picture with all participants and a friendly guard of KAIST, we went to the cemetery by two cars.

We took another group picture in front of the huge bronze horses, then began hiking. Mr. Furst hid his pet in his bag because he thought bringing dongs into the national park was prohibited. (Later, we found out that it was OK as long as dogs are on leads.)

There were many squirrels in the woods, and Pipi, Mr. Furst’s ped were very happy to chase after them.

There trails in the woods were covered with small tips of wood, comfortable to walk on, but there were some mosquitoes which bothered me a lot.

We came out of the first wood, and went via a stepping stone bridge and walked toward a small hill from where we could see some part of the city.

After taking some rest at bamboo bush and the hill, we walked to a gazebo at First Cemetary of General. On the way to the gazebo, I found an interesting and beautiful mashroom. It looked like a woman wearing a golden gawn.

I saw this precious mashroom before while hiking with AhToSan a couple of times, but not so often. I remembered the name in Korean, “Mantae Posok” so I check it in the Net. I found both Japanese name and English name as well.

It is called “Kinugasa-dake” in Japanese and in English, “long net stinkhorn” or “veiled lady.”I like the latter one in English.

lit is really amazing.

We had lunch at the gazebo. Then I noticed that a Korean couple were having lunch just next to us. They were having a small friendly dog. I asked them if it were OK to bring a dog. They said it was OK as long as the dog was on lead.

The couple were very kind to offer some traditional Korean food for us. We enjoyed having so called “songpyong”a kind of sweet cake made on Chuseok Day.

We had lunch there. Ai from Indonesia brought some spicy food for her lunch. She said her mother sent the food for her. I thought that it was just like Korean mothers who sent kimchi to their daughters.

We enjoyed leisurely stroke in the cemetery after the lunch. We visited the memorial pond and the Wild Flower Park and then came back to the parking lot.

It was my 49th hike for this year and 10th hike with Alan and Taejonhiers since last year.

ハイキングコース：駐車場～報勲散策路～飛び石池～将軍ジェ第1墓地～顕忠池～野生花公園～駐車場

同行者：アラン(米国)、トレイシー(豪州)、アイ(インドネシア)、アエラ(韓国)、アロン(韓国)、ジョージ・ファースト(米国)の6人と1匹(ピピ)

アランが、韓国の名節「秋夕(チュソク)」に比較的暇なものを集めてテジョンハイカーズによるハイキングを企画。参加者のうち、韓国人のアエラが提案して、地元大田広域市の顕忠院内の散策コースを歩くことにした。

いつものKAIST正門裏の駐車場に10時に集合。上記の同行者6人と一匹が集まった。

アランとジョージ・ファーストの車に分乗して、大勢の墓参りの人が訪れている顕忠院へ向かった。

巨大な３頭の馬の像の前で団体写真を撮ったのち、正面の入り口に向かったが、国立公園内にペットを連れて入ることはできないと考えたジョージ・ファーストはピピをリュック内に隠して正面入り口を通過した。(これは後ほど、鎖をつけていればよいということが判明した。)

さて、トレッキングコースは墓地全体の左側の山すそを通るコースで、散策路は水はけのよい小さな木片で快適だ。水たまりはほとんどなかった。

林の中には蝦夷リスに似たチョンソルモが多く生息し、ピピがよろこんで後を追う。ただ、忠南後山と同様、いやそれ以上に蚊やぶよが多かったことには閉口した。両腕はともかく、メッシュの帽子をかぶって行ったため頭まで刺されて癪に障る。

第１コースは飛び石のある池までで、そこから松林の中を抜け、将軍ジェ第１墓地の前の亭子で昼食をとり、あとは大きなみちなりに駐車場へ戻った。

本日最大の収穫は、この第２コースで「マンテポソク」という素晴らしいキノコを見つけたことだ。ネットで調べると中国では食用にするという。このキノコは日本語では「キヌガサタケ」と言うらしく、このキノコが成長する様子が動画でみることができ驚いた。

さて、将軍ジェ第１墓地前の亭子で昼食をとっていると、犬づれの先客のアジュンマが大量のトックと栗を差し入れしてくれた。自分の弁当も量が多かったが、この差し入れのおかげですっかり満腹した。

インドネシア人のアイちゃんの弁当は小さいが、母親が送ってくれると言う調味料が激辛のようだ。

秋夕にハイキングに参加したAylaとArongはどうも一人暮らしらしい。Aylaの両親は亡くなっていて、兄弟はすでに結婚しているということだ。

Alongの方の事情は聴かなかったが彼女も独立しているようで、昨年の秋夕には日本の関西方面を旅行したという。

インドネシア人のアイちゃんはアロンと意気投合したらしく二人で話が盛り上がっていた。

帰りは墓地の前を通り、「顕忠池」という池を訪れた。そこには多くの鯉がいて、人々は鯉に餌をあげて興じていた。また、正門の手前の野生花園はなかなかすばらしかった。

２時に顕忠院内の駐車場で解散。アランにKAISTまで送ってもらい、ワンルームに戻ったのは３時だった。

今回は今年もっとも楽な49回目のハイキングだった。
